The v notch is for reprofiling a worn blade. The sharp carbide bit is used for pulling off the bur/wire and getting it back to a fine cutting edge.

Carbid corner great for making a burr on blade without much irregular notches..

After you use the v grove then the carbide dont go back to the v grove.the carbide finishes the sharpening, it takes the imperfections off

Yo bro, don’t let these negative comments discourage you. If I could go back in time I would invest in a DMT diamond stone set, 600/1200 is the grit combo I use most. Buy a sharpening wedge guide and practice getting a good stroke. A consistent wrist angle is the key here. Once it’s done on the stone, get a nice piece of leather to strop. I don’t use compound but some people swear by it. I get razor sharp everytime with this setup. If I want to go next level I use a high grit Arkansas after the 1200 grit diamond. Then strop

This sharpener does work amazingly well for the price point but like anything there is a slight learning curve. The most inportant thing I've learned is pressure the less you use the better it works. You barely want any pressure on the blade as you sharpen I know it seems odd but it works so much better with very light pressure

Hey the reason your not getting the knife razor sharp in because your using the v as a sharpener. The v is for reshaping and in the process of reshaping it might sharpen it a little. Not trying to be rude by any means and can you do a review on the block sharpener? And I subed!

These are garbage sharpeners that will ruin an edge. Be better off using the bottom of a ceramic mug to sharpen at this point, better results with less damage to the edge.
