No joke, this is my canonical version of this song. No shade to the official version, but the descent into rock is a jarring tonal shift that absolutely kills it for me, whereas your version maintaining the haunting, ethereal tone throughout is SO GOOD! Fantastic work!

First things first: your channel and your videos need more subscribers and views. That they don't have more than they do is simply criminal. Your talent with music, both instrumental and vocal - and especially in harmony with one another - are able to pluck at the strings of hearts with just as much ease as any other instrument. You have a real gift, and while I've seen a number of your videos (mostly your FFXIV videos), this was the first one I had the good luck to encounter, and I'm only sorry it took me until now to comment on it. I do have a confession to make. When I first heard you sing this rendition, when I heard the line, "Threescore wasted, ten cast aside," I was a bit confused, because the A in the word "cast" was accented as if the song was being sung by a British vocalist, and the original version sounded distinctly American to my admittedly layman's ear. A quick search revealed that you're from the UK, and I slapped myself upside the head for being a complete idiot, and then I listened to this particular rendition again, and I decided that this vocalization was so different from the original that it felt like its own, unique song in its own right, and as I faced my silly ignorance, I realized just how talented you were with music, and just how broad music could possibly be as a spectrum of a sort. I've always loved music from movies and video games, and FF14 has music that stirs some very strong memories. I watched a video focusing on the Tsukiyomi fight that broke down the various leitmotifs that had been playing all throughout Stormblood, so that when we fight the tragic figure of Yotsuyu, the music automatically brings our feelings to bear as unavoidable, raid-wide damage, but it leaves a special sort of buff in its wake as well, and that's the kind of impact your music has, by the gift that is your voice and the art that you create with it. Thank you again, so very much, for sharing so much of your amazing talent with all of us! I am looking forward to seeing what awaits us in Endwalker, and I am very much hoping that you will do your own version of that theme when the official lyrics drop. Not to ask you to do something you don't want to do, but if you were so inclined, I imagine you would find many people eager to listen to you sing us a tale of a Warrior of Light as we gather around the campfire. May you ever walk in the Light of the Crystal, Sharm. ^_^

They just outdid themselves with everything this expansion. Not just the main theme, no other expansion has had me an emotional mess by the end. There was times i had to take a moment to recover, I've not done that other than the "a smile better suits a hero" in heavensward. Like, this story beats a lot of final fantasy too

Jeez... I loved the original a lot, but this just... it's chilling. It has that mournful edge, like something you would hear the people of the First sing in the first days after the Flood, maybe. Anyway, away from that rather sad thought, how did you enjoy Shadowbringers? Have to admit, I think this one beats Heavensward in terms of favorite expansion, personally.

Thank you! I absolutely LOVED Shadowbringers. I think it was by far the best expansion. The new zones and music pulled in inspiration from all across the FFs and it worked beautifully. The storyline was insane. As soon as I saw Eulmore I was HOOKED.

I didn't even notice that the beats in the background was the Final Fantasy arpeggio thing until I turned the speed up a bit.

^^ I used to just sit there for ages playing the FFVII theme on my keyboard when I was a kid. Simple arpeggio but iconic sentiment.

Don't get me wrong, that cover is amazing. But you missed a line in the last verse, it should be: One more chapter we've yet to write . "Want for nothing, nothing denied." Wand'ring ended, futures aligned. Just happen to notice because I liked that line in the song :p

I've taken to standing looking out the window of my room in the Crystarium as it plays, especially if there's a storm. Btw, this is simply gorgeous, as someone who's neglected WoW since Shadowbringers EA I've become re-obsessed with XIV (Damn, that story!) and this is my favourite thing you've ever done!
