Sharing My Birth Stories...

Yesterday, my baby turned three and tomorrow my eldest, Tom, will officially be an 8-year-old. Their birthdays are making me incredibly nostalgic. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole looking at all their baby pictures. It’s also made me reflect on motherhood and childbirth. Hearing others' birth stories was so helpful and empowering for me. So, I wanted to share my birth stories with all of you.

Stories like this are always bittersweet for me. From a young age, as old fashioned as it sounds, all I ever wanted to be was a wife and mother. I had a stay at home mother growing up and she was my strongest influence, my best friend, and the best role model I could ever have. Anyway, those things were never meant to be for me. Being born with a genetic disorder that could, at best, cause a stroke or heart attack, giving birth was never advised for me as the potential for my and/or my baby's death was too great. Being in my 50's now, even if it were medically possible, time has run out. And yes, I've looked into adoption in the past, but never being in a relationship, it was extremely difficult to have anyone seriously speak to me about it, or give me viable options since I would be a single mother. While I'm extremely sad that I'll never know the joys of motherhood, it warms my heart when I hear such beautiful stories such as this.

@@Sara-qw7lc As it happens, I recently became engaged to the best man I've ever known, and we're talking about fostering or even adoption in the next couple of years. I'd given up hope of ever finding anyone to share my life with and I guess the time was right to bring this gift of love. So my advice is just to have fun when you're young! Don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself to meet some kind goal by a certain time. Everything happens for a reason, good or bad, and when the time is right, you'll achieve whatever your heart desires!

I tend not to follow many celebrities on social media, I enjoy watching them in their respective shows and movies but I don’t need to see what they are up to all the time, but with you I don’t know what I would do without your content. I’m always so inspired by your content on KZread and other forms of media. Even in a video like this one which is only 5 minutes so much information is carefully conveyed and I find that so beautiful. In this video it’s not fast paced or too slow and I still understood the entire message you illustrated. You are an amazing human being, especially for doing home birth like a super mom and understanding other methods of birth that women do. You’re such a dimensional person and I love that about you and your family. I look forward to your future content, keep up the great work!

I had midwives for both of my births, and I wouldn't do it any other way. I really wanted natural births, and they supported me all the way. It's amazing how different the two births were, too. But I felt supported and cared for and encouraged the whole way through. It's an experience like nothing else. Thank you so much for sharing your story and helping normalize what our bodies are made to do, in most cases without intervention (but however it happens is FINE.) You have 3 beautiful children. I have 5 beautiful children, 4 girls and 1 boy. (Boy eas our last). My 1st daughter was 3 days of labor and 2.5 hours of pushing. Very difficult. My 2nd was about 8 hours long with 30 minutes of pushing. My 3rd was a long nightmarish story but vet worth every single moment and ounce of pain. My 4th daughter was the obly one who's water broke at home. My husband who also had 2 daughters from a previous marriage, so this was his 6th daughter, freaked out like a first timer. Well we got to the hospital just in time and she she came so fast the nurse delivered her. The doctor walked in 5 minutes later. While all 5 of mine were vaginal births, my son, our last, came close to being a c-section. During labor he had turned sideways and they said they will have to do a c-section. I'll admit, while labor was extremely painful the mention of a section freaked me out and I cried. They had me prepped and ready to go when my son flipped back around and they decided to make me finish laboring the natural way. But I agree 100%. No wrong way to deliver. The important end result is a healthy baby.

Its a nice thought but I would be afraid smg goes wrong. In the last time I heard of many stories of labor goes wrong and the woman with their babies nearly died. The woman had to get an immediate c section and loosing many blood. If u are at home, you wouldn't get as fast into hospital. Its always a risk. I don't want make you afraid or worry, its just facts I heard. Anyway, I am happy you and your family are all healthy and happy. ❤ You are an inspiration.

Good for you Gen for not judging other’s birthing experiences. Your story was beautiful! I wished I could’ve done mine naturally, I had a similar experience and had no choice but to do a c-section. I darn sure tried to go natural but then my labor became dangerous for my son and I. Most of the time when you have a cesarean birth it makes it difficult to have a natural birth after that. I was hoping I could deliver naturally with my second pregnancy, but my first cesarean caused complications for my second delivery. I really liked this video. You are very relatable and accepting that not all births are the same. I was very comfortable watching this, at “ease” so to say. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, I respect you so much. Love you and Jared, good people. You did it right and was prepared for anything. God Bless You and your family Genevieve. My oldest of two daughters at the last minute had to do c section and all was well.

Gen, you're such a strong and empowering woman. You always seem to make things easier. I love you and respect you from the bottom of my heart. Love from India. Ps: Tom is the exact copy of Jared❤❤❤ He looks like Jared more than Jared himself.

I love that while she had a ‘team’, it wasn’t the sense of celebrity entitlement, but rather an embracing of community involvement from the beginning of conception. Most importantly is the stress on flexibility. What Gen strived for was what suited HER. And if it’s not the path other women want to take, then they should pursue the path right for them, while always being aware that circumstances can change as needed. Congratulations on three beautiful children and the loving family life you and Jared strive to give them!

Thank you. Due to health concerns and the giant heads of my babies, I had to have 3 c sections. But to this day still see people saying “with c sections you are not really “giving birth”. So thank you for those comments on there is no wrong way of giving birth.
