My daughters and I randomly met Shaq years ago when they were little. My youngest daughter ran up to him and introduced herself. Shaq was amused that they didn’t know him for Basketball but from the Goodburger movie!😂😂😂 Shaq picked her up and gave her a huge hug! Truly a class act!!! Thank you Sir for being so gracious!!

He is one of the most authentic human beings I have ever met in my life. He was so gracious, and approachable during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Although the company I was working for, prohibited us from engaging with the athletes and entertainers in the course of our duties. The big fella went out of his way to engage with a few us, who were providing security for BMW, at one of their many booths during the Olmpic games. He is a big fella with a big heart. And he was a young man at time. So I knew...even then he would be special.

Penny was a bum from 97-98 onward. 15 ppg for 99 Magic and got spanked by AI. Penny without Shaq went from 51% 21 and 7 to 44% 21 and 5.... Then 15 and 5 on 44% ... Lackluster outside of 95 and 96. Let alot to be desired outside of those two seasons.

And Penny and Hill were believed to be alongside GP, Kemp, SHAQ, Mourning, Mutombo, Coleman, Larry Johnson, Strickland and Webber and Sprewell the best of the early 2000's generation to come post Jordan and Barkley and Malone and Ewing etc. By 98, Duncan with Robinson's help was in the second round as a rookie. By 99 he was champion. Before any of those other guys. By 99 Kobe was better than Penny. By 2000 he was better than Hill. AI was better than Penny and Hill by 2001. Possibly 2000. Definitely better than Penny by 1999. Carter was better than Hill by 01. Maybe 2000. TMAC better than Hill or Penny by 01. Sprewell was a ECFinalist and NBA finalist in 99 and 00. 04 he had the TWolves in the WCFinals with KG. He was a better early 2000's star than Penny or Hill. I ran into Shaq in the Bahamas with my wife and three kids and he took a picture with my kids. He was just walking around chillin and talking to everyone. The guy is so genuine and down to earth. Once again The Pivot has delivered.

When Shaq spoke on his step dad I felt that , my step dad raised me much like shaqs stepdad , didn’t always do things right at times but I respect the hell out of him for teaching me respect , discipline and being a family man. !!

It’s huge to hear Shaq take responsibility of him being wrong in his marriage. Takes a real man to be accountable of his actions and not play the blame game. Shoutout to growth.

He thinks about what could of been with Penny if he didn't leave, what would still be if he did right by his wife and not speaking more to his sister and Kobe before he passed. He never said he regretted anything about Kobe except reaching out to him more after that split. He's said on numerous occasions that the sit down he did for the NBA with Kobe was the first conversation face-to-face they had had since he left LA and the only time he saw Kobe after that was Kobe's last game. When he spoke about doing it his way, he was only talking about his playing career; nothing else included.

@Ellie5621 @Ellie5621 lol Because that's how he answered it. Nobody has ever said Shaq is a cohesive individual. He's all over the place most of the time. I can just see he wasn't contradicting himself, even though it can appear that way sometimes. I see what you see though. Maybe they should have commented to help him clarify and distinguish both points clearer at the end; I have just heard him speak on it enough in other settings to understand what he was saying overall.

In my opinion, it's already there. They've found the formula, and they feed off each other very well.

I remember Shaquille when he was 14 yrs old on Ft. Sam Houston and his father Drill Sergeant Phil, his father walking through post dropping troops all over the post...lol. His dad was a great man to all the kids in the community. I am so proud to know that this young man. His dad really loved him and he cared. Congrats Shaquille you've succeeded..

Shaq might be a bit nostalgic and dreamy.I clearly remember Penny looking defeated many games without Shaq and he displayed it by the way he played.Kobe never relented even LeBron has relented on occasion along with Penny i witnessed it.Shaa is wrong because Kobe couldn't stand taking it easy.Never even after injury.

It is refreshing to hear Shaq refuse to refer to the mothers of his children as "Baby Mamas." He's also an excellent example of a son who listens to the wisdom of a man who raised him as his own son. He could have easily used the cop-out "You're not my father!" He would have missed out on his purpose.

As a woman who has felt the pain of betrayal and divorce from a man who has NEVER admitted anything till this day. This is just so so refreshing and pure. It doesn’t take a way the woman’s pain and those kids pain however, just to admit and “man Up” in this way would possibly ease the pain somewhat. Humans aren’t perfect but to admit the wrong and take responsibility for the hurt inflicted through us upon others will raise you and give you redemption! Amen to that! Much respect Shaq! I had an opportunity to meet Shaq. Though he appeared to be intent on getting somewhere, he stopped, took a picture, engaged my husband and I in conversation; he was gracious, intelligent and caring.

When he mentioned a dentist bought his old home and Ryan said "That's a lot of Channing Teeth" LMAO Love this group and glad the guests keep coming with some of the best stories for us all!

You got a lot of ex athletes doing podcasts like Shannon Sharpe, Mike Tyson, Stephen Jackson & Matt Barnes(on All The Smoke), and of course The Pivot Podcast(with Ryan, Channing, and Fred). But this show by far is the best with their ability to get their guests to truly express themselves, and give real insight into their lives.

Shaq is genuinely a great man. Reminds me a lot of my father. Was raised in a military family and tried his best not to beat me, do other things. My dad was a man of few words but I had respect for him. And although a lot of my child hood was rough and my dad had a hard time being there for me he made sure to teach me that life was fucking hard and that you can become any person you decide to be. If you decide to be anyone though I try to emulate the humility, the comedian and the integrity that my father did his best to live up to. Thanks for at least giving some men a good role model shaq and a real man sees who his father was, his flaws, and accepts them .

As a 90s kid in Florida, Orlando Magic Shaq made me a forever fan !! i followed him to every team. Kazaam, Steel, cameo in Good Burger, music and all is solidified as Historic. Not to mention the most dominate player ever!!!

A great conversation and even after I have seen so many interviews with Shaq before, this conversation got into so many things I dont think I have heard him talk about before.

This show and Shay Sharpe is the best thing going. Honest, straightforward, and to the point. God bless you all for a show that many of us can relate to.

Shaq is the epitome of what it means to be a man. This dude is an absolute champion. Hearing him talk about being a father, owning up to his flaws in the divorce, the praise he gives his dad, ever aspect of life he has become the shining example that every young man should look to when looking for a role model

I will always love Shaquille O'Neal. He is a giver! He gave gave and gave to the Kids in the LA Community. I remember one of his events when he took over Santa Monica Airport for the kids of the community. I took a group of kids and it was simply AWSOME! Everything was free and it was a LOVE feast of entertainment, food, celebrities and games . It was beautiful! Thank you Shaq for what you gave to Los Angeles. I will forever be one of your biggest fans. There are no words to express all the wonderful memories you and Kobe gave to our family and LA with the 3 Championships. We would be in the middle of the neighborhood streets screaming during some of the most electrifying moments in NBA history. Thank you for the LOVE and the memories.

This the kind of man strong women need as a husband. This is the kind of father children need. I wouldn’t care if he worked a regular 9-5. A man like this I can respect, honor and appreciate. I love the person he is showing to be. He’s inspiring, motivated, confident and smart.

There are so many homeless people out there.❤ My husband recently had a homeless man and his dog to come to our home. They stayed on our couch in our garage. The man was so thankful!❤

I watched this interview from start to finish without skipping any parts thats how good it was. Shaq one of the realist dudes in NBA history thanks Pivot for bringing him on.

Love Shaq’s honesty and his positive attitude!

I've never heard Shaq mention it (he might have) if he was influenced by Charles Barkley, but Charles was the first "straight talker" who didn't pull punches with the media, at least from the NBA.

Mannnn I was born 93 I wish I could have seen Penny and Shaq play going back and watching highlights only do so much for me

I would like to say that this is the best interview I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. You gentlemen asked the right questions and Shaq answered them with the best stories. Y’all didn’t over talk him I seen the human side of Shaq . Great job fellas.

Shaq has always been a real one. Taking care of that homeless family is the quintessential Shaq..

My parents Disciplined me JUST LIKE SHAQ'S dad did. I'm 57 & I appreciate all the whippings by shoes, broom sticks, belts , fists. It made me respect my parents & wake me up to how HARD they struggled to take care of us in the Baltimore projects. Thank you mom & dad THANK U. I was a hard headed kid, I caused my parents grief ...a lot, but the ass whippings made me a better man. A LARGE percentage of Kids today run their homes

You are so right. And they’re trying to scandalize their parents and family’s name for how they were raised. Ungrateful brats!! I think of the Jacksons and the late Joe Jackson. That man saw something in his kids that would get them out of Gary, Indiana and render them wealth for generations to come. I cannot speak to all the allegations of abuse, but his pushing them to be great musicians and artists has left them ALL wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. If they ever miss a meal it’d be because they just didn’t WANT to eat; not because they couldn’t. If they ever sleep in a car overnight, it’d be because they just wanted to; definitely not because they HAD to. There should’ve been nothing but sheer honor and respect for both of their parents and soul-searching forgiveness for anything they truly felt he just didn’t do right…not a scandalizing of his name. In that regard, they’ve disrespected “Mother” just as badly. Tsk tsk tsk

I love how Shaq still praises Anfernee Penny Hardaway, arguably the biggest what-if. Penny was so unique in every aspect of the game. Not only is he my favorite player of all time but lots of the 2k superstars like LeBron T-Mac idolized Penny.

To me before the injuries Penny was the most complete perimeter player to ever play in the NBA. Think about this he was 1st team all NBA defense with Payton and Stockton in their primes. Only 3 players in history to ever be all NBA 1st team in their 2nd season abs he was one of them
