NFL Hall Of Famer and Super Bowl Champion Warren Sapp joins The Pivot in a conversation about lessons learned and life after football.
In a honest and emotional discussion, Sapp talks about his struggles with memory loss and the side effects he is starting to experience as he hits that 20-year mark of playing football. Channing brings up Junior Seau and how hard that was to learn about as Sapp explains to Ryan and Fred the fears that lie ahead.
Sapp admittedly discloses that it’s easier for him to recount stories when he is in a familiar environment like the locker room atmosphere and goes on to share some memories with Ryan, Fred and Channing of his playing days and his Super Bowl run along with leading one of the best defensive units in NFL history.
Fred asks if Sapp thinks Aaron Donald is the best to play the position as he explains his answer.
Leaning into the veteran perspective, The guys ask Sapp what advice he would give to younger players and youth today. Not shying away from his infamous Arizona incident from 2015 and how quickly things can change, “Dungy always told us five things that would keep us on the straight and narrow…And he was right,” Sapp says.
The Pivot Podcast releases new episodes every Tuesday at noon eastern and special drops on Fridays at 3p. For exclusive merchandise, visit www.pivotpodcast.com

To some of the young bucks that never saw Sapp play. All I gotta say is the man was a wrecking machine. That Tampa defense was insane, Rice on the outside, him and Booger McFarland on this inside. Qbs had NO TIME to throw the football, and they very rarely had to ever blitz. The way he could collapse the pocket from the inside was just crazy, and he was equally as good against the run. As an Eagles fan that 02 NFC Championship game still gives me nightmares.

To see a vivacious person full of life close to you deteriorate thru the years are some of the hardest experiences to have...CTE and brain trauma are no joke and we are are affected by it, regardless of financial status. Another great show, I have an 8-year-old who loves football but I refuse to let him play before High School because I believe CTE is real. The fact that Sapp shared his CTE episode is priceless and hit my soul as a Hurricanes fan. I really hope parents listen. The Tony Dungy Jewel was a monster that can definitely be used for younger athletes.

You can tell Sapp understands how serious CTE is by the way he changed his body language and just his demeanor. I only played up to High School football, had 3 concussions that I can remember and played through them. CTE scares me. Can’t even imagine how someone who played in the NFL feels about CTE. Great interview YET AGAIN.
