Bruh yall either going with the joke or giving Shaq a hard time. For some mystical reason once your tank is under half, the gauge falls faster. It's best never to run your car down to "0". Ruins your gas pump, strains your fuel filter. After filling up with 80, topping up with 20 at the half can/will get you home. The scenario wasn't 20 will full you. It's you dont need to stop as much but when/if you stop you dont/won't have to spend 80.

@@fightclub6291 No, he wasn't. It takes power to move a car, no matter WHAT kind of power it is. Keeping your tires properly inflated reduces rolling resistance, which uses less power...which in the case of an EV, is electricity. So Shaq was right for once.

You dont own a vehicle. You should never run your vehicle down to "0". Say you get pay on Thursdays. Every Thursday you get a full up($80). On Tuesday you top up with $20. By Thursday your either in a position to full up at $80 again OR you spend a fraction of the $80. Say $30 and your full again. You've now decreased the stress of getting/needing gas but you've lessened its cost on your pocket by not waiting until it's too late. The intention isn't/wasn't to full up with a 20, but its gas & car management.

@@rickyrunks510 the other guy is right. There’s no way to spend less for gas. It doesn’t matter when you fill up or how much little you put in. You will always spend the same amount for any litre of gas you put in. Unless the actual gas prices drop during certain seasons. But other than that it will always be the same. Most people just fill up and wait till it gets to quarter left then fill again so that it lessens the amount of times going to the gas station.

1st of all no tank is going to hold $80 worth of gas. You spend more money if you buy gas in low amounts because you spend more gas when you keep going back to the gas station

Shaq's not trying to say you'll be saving money or petrol overall, he's just providing a solution to pay the $80 all in one go

Shaq's point (I think) is if you hate shelling out 80 bucks when paying for gas, then fill up your tank when it's halfway so you don't suffer that "$80 shock".

Based on the weight of the gas in the vehicle, Shaq's scenario actually could save money. The car is more fuel efficient when driving with only half a tank vs a full tank. The problem is that the amount you would save based on weight, you would probably negate by having to drive back to the gas station more often (adding more distance to your route more often).

Shaq's original point was that you will spend less money total on gas if you put in 20$ each time you get to half, which isn't true. For a easy example let's say Kenny has to drive 10 miles to and from work twice a week, for a total of 40 miles. If his truck get's 10 mile to the gallon that would be 4 gallons of gas, regardless of whether or not he buys it each time he gets to half or if he fills it up completely when he gets to near empty, he is still using the same amount of fuel and still spending the same amount on gas. That being said it is good practice to fill up when you get to half because it keeps your fuel pump submerged in gas which keeps it cool and will help it last longer.

Shaq.....all you are doing is splitting the gas money you were going to have to spend in parts... For example, I drive a 2021 Kia Seltos and where I live it takes about 30 dollars at most to gas my car at an empty tank. If I take a road trip with a full tank (assuming gas prices stay around the same price) and have 60 bucks to gas my car and just put 15 bucks in every half tank I’m just splitting it up, instead of putting in 30 like i would be if I drove until my tank got low again... BRUH

Shaq is clueless about how MPH works. Where did he get "refilling at the halfway point with $20" from? At the halfway point, you HAVE to put in $40. It all adds back up $80. It's basic math.

Hate on Shaq all you want, but if you leave your tank always a quarter full, you are essentially not lugging around 7 extra gallons of fuel weight as you would with a full tank, which is ~60 lbs, which saves you gas because your car is lighter. Get on his level y’all.

Yeah it's pay what you minimally need, *It only works when really broke.* Say I need Gas & food but only got 80 for the week. If all I need is half a tank to get by untill payday, Then obviously it's wiser to only pay 40 and spend the rest on groceries.... But I didn't save money on gas like Shaq thinks, I still have to pay for the same amount of use, It just "feels like it" because I'm still holding change...
