    @Christopher Stevenson Every musician that performs live uses in ears to hear their mix. If you'd ever played live on a large stage, you would know how hard it is to hear the other instruments. Also, Elijah's preferred pronoun is "they".

  • @010aray

    @010aray

    2 жыл бұрын

    @Christopher Stevenson Chuck Berry has been playing since before in ears were invented, not really a good example. To infer that someone like Shania Twain isn't serious about music is utterly laughable. Venues are booked based on crowd sizes and Shania draws stadium style crowds. Also, how do you know they are playing to a backing track? Obviously you're totally unaware of where live music has gone since, well, I guess you saw Chuck Berry live in 1950whatever. Live acts use: triggers, sampling pads, in ears, click tracks, etc. I've played dive bars on a stage that's maybe 6'x6' and if I didn't use my in ears to hear the bass and rhythm guitar I wouldn't be able to hear anything at all from the rest of the band. I guess it's easy to be snarky and suggest that someone performing with a major international act isn't very good at their instrument because they use in ears for listening to a mix as well as protecting their hearing. Maybe take up the drums, learn to keep solid time, and get on a stage and then tell those of us that do play just how lame we are or how easy you think it is.

    @Christopher Stevenson Right, your the sound guy so you know it all. Understood. I guess being a guy who actually plays and instrument and plays many venues, I don't know what I'm talking about and haven't spoken from any real life experience. I'll just go back to being a real musician and not insult real professionals, like Elijah. Which, you did, in the most egregious fashion possible for a drummer.

    This is absolutely fantastic! I played drums as a teen and love watching the real thing live. But this is the first time I've had such a wonderful, non-cutaway front row seat to what its like being a concert drummer, even with the isolated raised drum parts and what appear to be the in-ear stems the drummer actually listens to. Elia, is what we hear in these videos what you are actually listening to in your ears? Meaning, main live vocals are almost off (aside from what is picked up by drum mics) and you only hear background guitar and chorus parts? I've watch several of your vids and honestly, this is great. You are a kick-ass top notch drummer!

    it is sooooo different in the back row! i played bass in an R & B band with a horn section. It amazed me the first time we played how different the sound was being behind everyone. Just me and the drummer in the back row. It really helped to have a monitor so I could hear the lead vocals a least....Best place I ever played was Boz Scaggs place in San francisco that had a mixing board for just the musicians' monitors...You could have it fine tuned to just what you wanted to hear.

    That snare sound is great. Despite what some may think, this is not triggered, just well tuned and eq'd. I use a similar sound but mine is a 14"x8" shell and this one looks like a 14"x6.5" shell. The top head is a medium to medium/low tuning and the bottom head is tuned about a 3rd pitch higher with the snare wires a little looser to get that fat sound. I like mine super fat sounding that's why I use the 8" deep shell.

    @@michaelanderson2881 you know always wanted to play the drums but I'm def not musically inclined unless you count my incredible style and form when I would lightly tap the triangle in grade school 🤔 I almost went out and bought a drum set. Gosh it would be so much fun 😍

    Simple, clean fat 2 and 4 drumming. Fills that serve the music. Timing like a Swiss watch. Having fun on the kit. Terrific drumming. So many drummers try to impress with long improvised solos and over done fills, she just honors the music and keeps perfect time.
