Actually your incorrect. He played against Wales for the Barbarians in Cardiff after this so would of heard the anthem as a player. Also he played on for another two years so everytime he watched a match he was still a player just not an international.

No disrespect to any other country in the world, but the welsh anthem and Irish anthem are just chilling. The "old" South African anthem was really beautiful, musically speaking, and lyrically lovely too. But to anyone with a Welsh heart and soul ours is unbeatable. By the way one doesn't need to be able to speak Welsh to appreciate our Anthem. I can't as my family left UK in 1947. But every time I hear our Anthem, sung or just played, my heart is wrung with the longing to join in. I wish l could go back, but I'm almost 80 now, and there's never been a chance to di do.

as an englisman, he'll always be an inspiration, standing at 5 foot 8 myself, always thought i was too small for rugby, but seeing shane playing made me carry on as i realised that it's the every mans game, no matter how tall or short you are

What a great player. As a paddy I loved watching him, he was deadly. So many great welsh players....don’t know how they do it for a small nation, hats off to em. Love sharing a few pints in Cardiff win or lose, great boys a great crack.

I'm Italian and I say that Shane's attachment to his shirt is truly touching. Thank you Shane for the great example you have set us throughout your career❤👍🏻

Man, I just love this anthem. Best piece of songwriting ever.

I remember watching this live and sobbing like a baby..... And having come across this vid, I am doing the same again. Shane Williams you were a true great. Total respect from a proud Englishman to a proud Welshman.

It takes a TRUE MAN to be unashamed to show emotions!

Truly amazing player, you cant buy loyalty, dedication and raw emotion like this. Hats off to the man.

Just had this pop up on my youtube feed, remember watching this, lump in the throat. As an Englishman living in Wales I know how much rugby means to the nation and this anthem along with the Scots & Irish really are inspiring as they are singing about the nation, not one person. I wish we English had our own anthem and not the bloody UK one.

He is a really nice guy. I remember they were launching the new Wales away kit in Cardiff and their was an obstacle course and I decided to have a go but I had just done a bit of shopping. He was hosting the event. I had a go on the obstacle course. He actually offered to look after my shopping whilst I did the course so I accepted his offer and he gave my shopping back to me when I finished the obstacle course.
