"Remember when you were gay?" felt like it was directed at the SNL folks. I know it was wrapped in a joke, and a damn good one at that, but I felt like this was his Norm-esque triumphant return moment. It's like he was saying, "SNL, you asked me to host so now you're cool, but remember when you were gay about having me on?" It was just the look on his face when he said that. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but such a move would fit his style.

Watched SNL live for my first time in over a decade. The opening was just them making fun of Republican congressmen that have been "victimized" by Trump but still support him publicly. No Shane as Trump in it which made it even worse. But Nate Bargatze bought ad space immediately after the monologue to advertise his new tour. I might be reading into it but I think that was Nate supporting Shane. At the very least it was his management having the strong believe that Shane would do well enough that people would stick around after the monologue. So kudos to whoever made that choice.

I liked it, addressed the elephant in the room riffed off his parents, did some familiar material and some risky material and for the most part won over the majority of the crowd. I don't get anyone who hates on Shane, he has that cheeky imp quality like Norm had

I thought overall it was a good set. SNL's a tough gig and although as a fan it was disappointing that he used some old material, it makes sense as he was "introducing" himself to a wider audience. Dude was clearly nervous, but he pulled it off. Atta boy Shane.

I have a feeling some of his monologue got cut out from him at the last moment and then he was forced to use old material to fill time. The way he pauses at one point and says "Guess I'll keep talking about my family rather than anything else"

Big Phil was sittin heavy watching the comeback kid
Everyone is getting apple juice, we dont know how to fix that problem😂😂😂
I'm happy for Shane and the exposure he got. I haven't watched SNL in so long and it was painful. It's like if a skit has one good joke or a few mid jokes, it's good enough for SNL. Some of the skits didn't even have endings... it was just over while you were still waiting for the setup to payoff. I don't think it's because Shane was bad, he was in almost every bright spot, I just imagine this is what the show has become.
Shane Gillis is an absolute treasure
Yall are so faded 😂
I'm not saying you should empty your bank account, but you should buy a couple stocks of Anheuser-Busch... I can honestly see Gillis advertisements be a real turning point for the Bud Light stock prices 😉

I love when professional comedians do their SNL monologue. It's actually funny and they write their own material. Bill Burr and Louis CK crushed their monologues too.
Shane was definitely nervous and a bit off, but he still killed it. He did what he could with the terrible SNL cast member’s writing, the one sketch that got cut was his best one

If SNL were as bold and funny as his opening set. I would watch a lot more SNL.
Wasn't as funny as I expected, but I imagine they held him back from saying some stuff, so he focused mostly on jokes about his own family. The being best friends with his mom was a relatable one though.

I thought it was a pretty good and honest introduction to his style of comedy to the people who don’t know him.
If you wanna see a 10 monologue, watch Norm MacDonald host after being fired from the show a season before due to his OJ Simpson jokes😂
people who follow shane know that he makes his dad do cameos from time to time on his podcast. his dad has his own following.
I actually enjoyed and preferred the way he did his monologue and not just addressed the whole situation that everyone already knows pretty much, he brought it up briefly and just moved on with doing jokes everyone wanted him to go on the attack but that would have been worse
Its such a wholesome monologue. I don't understand why people are mad.
Louis CK told him to just go out and use his best jokes and use the platform to introduce himself to the wider audience. I watched it live (from Germany) My first ever full ep of SNL. I thought he came across a bit nervous the first time but watching it again with you guys, you can hear him kill. The same fools who got him cancelled the first time are reeling right now. Love your channel guys, keep up the great work!

@@vhscopyofseinfeld Possibly for the TV viewership sake but he said he thinks it went really well and he enjoyed it but the room is well lit so he could see everyone's reaction. @@DogmenHardcastleunfortunately network censorship will always blunt the best comedians a little. Agree with you on SNL. The cast has no alpha and it shows. Ironically that could have been Shane in an alternate universe
the original version of the set without the canned laughter was even funnier literally nothing landed dude played to a silent audience u can tell because he is apologizing where the canned laughter was edited in find the original unedited live version where he bombed hard af it's hilarious 🖕🤣
So good to see Shane kill it as the best way to give SNL a big “F’k you” by having a great show
I know SNL gets blocked, I hope that's why there's no video lol
Shane killed it, sounded like the audience enjoyed it too, idk why some ppl are saying he bombed
8 minutes ago let's gooo. The underrated part of Shane is how charming he is and nobody really talks about it. Charm can save a set where the entire audience doesn't agree with you, it's a gigantic asset
This was a lot better after they added the laugh track. 😂
I’m scared
the best part of that was watching the band. The chick on guitar looked completely unimpressed....hahahaha
Yep, funny. Hes the funniest.
The Trump skit was pretty good too.
Bro bring back the old intro!
Don't kniw if its true but i read a headline his skit show is going to netflix
People were trying to say that he bombed and they're trying to make the notion as if he's still a bad guy for putting the down syndrome jokes and his monologue smh nobody can ever win 😅.. Btw I don't think Shane bombed at all, I know the crowd definitely did tho they sort of failed them at times by not laughing at certain things or feeling afraid to laugh.. Shane could have done this a hell of a lot different he could have went way left Adam Sandler had a similar monologue Norm Macdonald had a similar monologue which both of whom were csst members at one point before being let go
Lol the makers of this clip really added more laugh tracks to this than SNL did to their YT video 😂😂

He kinda bombed. But it’s an SNL audience so. Same thing as bill burr. He can’t do proper tv.
Why is snl still a thing? 😂 the monologe is the only good thing about it but only from the standups
