Shall We Dance - Sammy Davis Jr. & Lionel Blair Tap Battle
Музыка
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Sammy's good friend Lionel Blair. Here is a terrific segment from their portion from the 1961 Royal Variety Performance, held at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

Wow. Never saw this. Them together. Amazing.. Can anyone today dance and entertain like either of them? Loved it.
Rest In Peace dear old Lionel Blair. One of the last of his generation of showbiz dancers. Dancing with Sammy now 🌹
Priceless. Two legends. Blair is impossibly graceful.
Just amazing talent from both men. That sort of live performance is rarely, if ever, seen today.
Which sad person didn't like this? Such fun to watch. RIP Lionel and Sammy.

Theoobivril,Sammy Davis Jr was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.
OMG they were seriously brilliant entertainers, all round, fun, excitement, and heaven now has a duet about to be reignited.
Both now tapping in the sky, RIP.
I can tell you now...Sammy didn't upstage Lionel, he held his own with a more understated performance that let Sammy take the lead and still managed to have stage presence in his own right...that takes talent, especially at the side of Sammy Davis Junior...RIP Lionel, this footage goes to show how talented he was and not just a regular on 'Give Us a Clue'. There was so much more to him x
So glad I came across this! RIP Lionel Blair. What a showman!
Amazing talents. RIP Sammy and Lionel, gentlemen both.
What a wonderful way to remember Lionel Blair. Such exuberance, such talent, such fun! RIP.
what a great entertainers and marvellous performance. They don't make them like that any more. RIP Sammy and Lionel
One of the last of that generation of Showbiz gone. Tarbuck probably the only one left now from that era.

I can't really add to what has already been said, some wonderful tributes to these fabulous entertainers, & that's what they both were, entertainers, & they lived to entertain, a former friend & colleague of both these stars, probably would have rounded up both their career's with his own catchphrase, " Well, didn't they do well", guess who ?. Hasta luego amigo's TJR Canary Islands.
RIP Lionel Blair 🙏

Fantastic stuff. RIP Mr Blair.
Absolutely fantastic !!!!
Brilliant. Both still tapping and thrilling, just elsewhere and new audiences (or maybe old ones!). And reunited.
RIP Lionel Blair, always entertaining, never took himself seriously.
I love this dance
My earliest recollections of Lionel were dancing with his sister on TV, always a wonderful personality and between him and Una Stubbs absolutely first class on Give us a clue. Will be sadly missed by his legions of fans
Love this as they're both so obviously enjoying it and so evenly matched!
Great childhood memories of watching this clip over the years. 👏👏
Joyous.
Two total legends that we have lost!! 😞 🏴

RIP Lionel
Lionel more than held his own in this one. Bravo.
Sammy of course was a genius. But Lionel Blair was underated, with there being much more to him than met the eye. He was a smooth compere, in the same class as Bob Monkhouse and Sir Bruce Forsyth, and just like those two he was also a great ad libber as well as a talented dancer. He was never out of work for long, that's for sure, because as well as all of the above he was often hired by film producers as a choreographer, his skills being used in films such as The Beatles vehicle, A Hard Days Night. Because of his flamboyant dress style and laid-back manner people used to mistakenly think that he was a homosexual and also smarmy but he was a favourite with the ladies, although he had one of the longest and happiest marriages in showbusiness and he was brilliant at putting the contestants at ease on shows like our version of Name that Tune. Of course, I didn't know all this as a teenager when he was one of the captain's on the charade based show, Give us a Clue but now that he's gone I kind of miss him for the talent and professionalism that he had.
Now that’s entertainment
WOW!
Wow
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I have got a movie DVD of Sammy Davies Junior Dean Martin Roger Moore Burt Reynolds Jack Elam and Jackie Chan in The Cannonball Run and I am dedicating this movie DVD to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx 🔑🏠😀
👍👍
SAMMY WAS A BAD MAN
that lionel could keep up with sammy speaks for itself
サミーは歌はうまかったけど 別の動画サイトでダンサーベスト10で歴代2位にランクインしていた!
And now we have Ant and Dec.
Entertainment by these 2 ‘OFF THE RICHTER SCALE’ Lionel could hold his own against Sammy and others from across the pond. 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
💚2021✨Thank you, Blessings #MillenniumLanceAndTheOpenScroll 🌹 🎠🌈🌈🌈💍🌈🌈🌈🔥 keeping the Faith 💜😎
Sammy; "What do you wanna try lionel?" Lionel "How about this (dances a few steps)" Sammy "Wow,How do you do that, show me.!" Lionel "teach YoU?!,,,," friends ever since.
Blair was 5ft6inch tall and looks like Tyson fury next to Sammy i would estimate Sammy's Hight at 4ft9
why didn't this tall slender dancing entertainer play the Dick Van Dyke role in the Mary Poppins movie? he's Canadian / British and actually has a British accent, albeit not a cockney accent. i guess the film being made by americans/disney gave Van Dyke the edge for the role.
Lional blair was often the butt of jokes but he really had talent.
