Bang! Bang! (Sammy Davis Jr.) | Robin and the 7 Hoods | Warner Archive

Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964) #WarnerArchive #WarnerBros #Robinandthe7Hoods
It's The Rat Pack with a very special VIP "plus one" in this sly Runyonesque musical revision of the Robin Hood legend, done up Chicago gangland style. Frank Sinatra stars as Robbo, caught up in a gang war with rival mobster Guy Gisborne (Peter Falk) after mob chieftain Big Jim (Edward G. Robinson, in an uncredited cameo) get the big rub-out. With allies Will (Sammy Davis, Jr,) and John (Dean Martin) at his side, Robbo gets suborned by Big Jim's daughter Marian (Barbara Rush) to ice the man that iced her dad to the tune of 50 Gs.
Directed By Gordon Douglas
Starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr.

@Alfie Martin Sammy had a glass left eye, he lost his left in a car accident, he wore an eye patch. Frank used to make fun of Sammy's sight at first, until he heard Sammy heard about it, and stopped, and it's kinda why Sammy was so relaxed singing more often with Dean, tbh. "Sam's Song" is a perfect example, or just look up "Dean & Sammy Medley" idk if I've ever seen Frank sing with Sammy unless it was "Me and My Shadow" song, love that one, or it's a film, or lost footage of a live performance with all 3 of them with Lawford &Bishop. It's rare to see Sammy singing with Frank after the 60s while Frank and Sammy were touring around the world, Dean and Joey were doing their talk shows, etc, Joey spent more time with Dean on his roasts. Lawford stayed in movies, but he never came back into the limelight of the Ratpack reunions unless you count that one time with Sammy before he died and that 60s film he did with Sammy and Joey, since Frank kicked Peter out, although he wanted to be left alone. So Bing took over Lawford's spot as No4 (until JFKs assassination, where Jack was at Bing's house instead of Frank, and that's when Frank fought Peter, etc etc) as Joey remained at No5. 1970s was all Sammy and Dean, Frank and Dean medleys or Dean and Joey segments, bc after 73" Frank and Sammy had a falling out over Sammy's accidental cocaine problem after marrying his 3rd wife. But guess like how Frank got Dean to reconcile with Jerry in 76, then came Dean, Sammy and Frank's roasts during the 70s, then somebody must've gotten Sammy to reconcile with Frank in 1986-88 as Dean's son died in 89, and Liza took over when Dean bailed out on the Ratpack Reunion Tour "Together Again!", but went to the 1990 Grammy's on Sammy's 60th, and No3 was reunited with No1&2&5. Months later, Sammy died.. RIP Mister Showbiz!! 5y later, Dean died, 3y later, Frank died and Joey survived long enough, then Lauren Bacall died, then finally Don died, now it's just the Ratpack kids who would be led by Shirley McClaine and Liza Minelli, omg!

They’re us. WE BE BAD. We’re the baddest-assed sons of bitches that ever jogged in Reeboks. We’re three-quarters grizzly bear and two-thirds car wreck and descended from a stock market crash on our mother’s side. You take your Germany, France, and Spain, roll them all together and it wouldn’t give us room to park our cars. We’re the big boys, Jack, the original, giant, economy-sized, new and improved butt kickers of all time. When we snort coke in Houston, people lose their hats in Cap d’Antibes. And we’ve got an American Express card credit limit higher than your piss-ant metric numbers go. You say our country’s never been invaded? You’re right, little buddy. Because I’d like to see the needle-dicked foreigners who’d have the guts to try. We drink napalm to get our hearts started in the morning. A rape and a mugging is our way of saying 'Cheerio.' Hell can’t hold our sock-hops. We walk taller, talk louder, spit further, fuck longer and buy more things than you know the names of. I’d rather be a junkie in a New York City jail than king, queen, and jack of all Europeans. We eat little countries like this for breakfast and shit them out before lunch.” ― P.J. O'Rourke

Now that's the prettiest sound. You'll ever hear. It's just like heavenly music to my ear. Man I get such a boot. When I hear rooty-toot-toot. I always feel high. When a rod is nearby. Cause I like, The fun of reaching for a gun and going bang bang. I come alive. Each time a forty-five. Begins to bang bang. In gangster movies. I love that scene, The nice guy's nice. And the mean guy's mean. The boss's moll. Always steps between... Quick draws. Applause. My kind of prank. Is walking in a bank. And going bang bang. The ricochet. A bullet play a melody. Like shotgun seats. At the Roscoe kit. I'll be out to make history. Cause no one, I know, Gets oh such a glow. Out of bang bang... Like me. (Instrument solo) Like pistol Joe. And machine gun Moe. Is the way I'm aiming to be. Cause I'm not afraid, To stage me a raid, On some hangout. And my gun will hum. While I'm blasting some rival gang out. Cause no one, I know, Gets oh such a glow. Out of bang bang! Like me!

Keith Steward They were developing one that was slated for a Broadway opening, but it fell apart during the out-of-town try outs. They moved the setting to the 1960s, axed the whole gangster theme, and replaced it with a mAD men vibe. Only one song from the movie made it in and it wasn’t this gem. Broadway is was too progressive and liberal to stage a number about a man and his love for guns.

yup but that all changed bc of Frank said something about Sammy sleeping in a black community hotel and not a white one, and he told Sammy to be moved closer to him and Dino. These days if an adult male is seen with a child, they get asked for ID to said or seen child, to make sure theyre not kidnapped or the guy is a pervert, even if the girl is a teen and has to confirm hes her dad, bcos her mom died. i read that somewhere it happens. rly sad for the widower tho, accused of so&so and whatnot. People should mind their own backsides, unless its crucial to complain to the police, not directly in front of the kid who was getting told off by him. and yes this was a black father and his interracial white daughter confronted by a white man who owned the hotel. so u see the issue. and it even happens to other families. like white mothers can have colored children, depending on the father, even a colored mother can have a white child. these are interracial relationships, white supremacists would object to this type of culture, hell, I'd consider this as total disgraceful racism at its finest!! esp as I'm born to a brown mother and white father. Yet, people confused me to be Asian, when i look like a white girl with English descent, but described as a NZ Maori, yet ppl think I'm Chinese, mayb its my overbite. Lmao.
