Shake the Frost - Tyler Childers

Ойын-сауық

This is a solo performance from Tyler, filling in for an ailing Hannah Aldridge. His reference to this song being on his CD, Live on Red Barn Radio I, was from his performance with Highwall. Arthur Hancock and Highwall developed the band and it went on to become the original Wooks.

This cost me a 9 year relationship. Just being angry at nothing. Just being pissed off at the world for no reason. I had so much and forgot to be thankful for that. When you go through life being mad at everything and keeping all your feelings inside, you will truly get frost on your bones. I feel this song so deep in my soul. I work hard everyday and I will not give up. Better days are coming .

Me and a buddy of mine used to listen to Tyler all the time when we were together. I was a freshman in highschool without a lot of friends starting to go down the wrong path and he was a junior and he took me under his wing and showed me who i wanted to be. We used to ride around in his old beat up ford ranger after school and blare Tyler and old rock and country and just talk and laugh and I miss those days man I really do. We had planned on enlisting in the military together once I graduated highschool and we had it all planned out and then he was diagnosed with cancer and we didn’t get to hangout as much and we slowly stopped talking but we both knew it was a bond that we can’t get rid of and he just recently beat it a few months ago and we’re supposed to start hanging out again and I can’t wait. 10/3/21 - I turn 17 this Friday and I plan to enlist as soon as I can. I’m a junior now too.. the same age trapper was when he took me under his wing. I hope that I can help someone the way he helped me so I’ve been looking out for younger fellas that’s I could take in like trapped did for me. I just spoke to trap a few days ago and he’s doing well, working his tail off like always and still making time to go to night electrical classes. Even though we don’t talk as frequently we can pick up a conversation just like always and are just the same. Thank y’all for everything guys I’ll check back in in a while 3/21/23 - It’s been a little bit since I’ve hopped on here. I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu about 8 months ago. Trapper used to train jiu jitsu and wrestle though out highschool and I had always wanted to so I figured why not. Trapper ended up coming and training again for a few months between work and we even went to Richmond to compete together. Unfortunately this only lasted a few months before he went back to work but it was nice to see him again. On another note I’m going to meps tomorrow and signing my contract the following day. I’m going in as a combat medic and will ship out for basic right after I graduate highschool. I’m excited, this is the next step towards becoming the man I’ve always wanted to become. However, I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for trapper taking me under his wing a few years ago. 11/10/23 - Well uh, I’m in San Antonio currently at Fort Sam Houston learning how to be a combat medic. Just graduated basic training about a week ago and am starting AIT now. Crazy to think that I am where I am right now. Cool to look back. Grateful for all of the experiences that brought me to where I am. Have a blessed day

My parents were murdered on 2/15/22 by a 19 year old boy under the influence of drugs. My mom and I had a rocky relationship for no particular reason and I became angry, so angry that I didn't see her for the past 4 1/2 years. We would speak on social media here and there but I never got to fix it. She passed away thinking I hated her and I will never forgive myself for that. My brother sent me this song Saturday night because he said it reminded him of me and my mom. We are in fact from Kentucky, she was our consistent, our strength, our warrior our life. Without her on this earth I am shattered & just completely broken. As I sit here tonight listening to this song, with tears falling down my face, I want to thank you for giving me this piece of comfort. When I hear this, especially the beginning, I will always think of my mommy, my brother and me back home in Kentucky where we were loved unconditionally and where she is laid to rest 🕊🕊🕊

Your story has tears spilling down my cheek. My brother committed suicide 05/29/19. Today is exactly 5 years. I blamed myself for many years that I didn't intervene or even the thought of how alone he felt at that moment. We were so close and I moved out of my home state for my job and to start my family. I think he thought I had abandoned him and left him alone. I would rather have him back than my current marriage. I do anything, but I know I can't and I know I've gone on. It literally almost killed me as well. My whole family is different now my relationship to my spouse is different. My brother taught me so much, but I consciously emulate his love and kindness. The action of what your brother does for you and the values your mother exemplifies in both of you. The reconciliation is there. Your mother loves you--as your the reflection of that truth by helping with others' grieving sharing your story.

Close to here, in Cincinnati, he opens for John Prine on June 9th. He's getting introduced to new fans every day. Being deserving or being good doesn't always get it in the music business though. Not in this day of auto-tuning and other production tricks. Just ask guys like Chris Knight.

Long drives from post to the beach, or night drives to savannah to walk down river street. But my favorite memory was when we were sitting outside on the back of his truck. Our newborn son in my arms, our 5 year old daughter asleep on his lap as we listened to this song and watched the rain pour down. Tyler Childers will be forever be my favorite country. artist.

I can't get enough of this guy's music. It's crazy how radio plays what radio plays. And gems like this are capable of staying hidden for decades. 41 years old, can't remember the last time I found an artist that I can listen to on repeat. And fully feel and comprehend every syllable. Metal-head at heart, I like ALL genres of music. New school, Old-school, rock, hip-hop, even country. Not sure where this falls, in terms of a category. Modern/ Alternative rock? Country? Love song? Lol... All I know, is it's real. You can hear the raw emotion, from the opening verse.
