Did anyone notice any change of condition for the flywheel, before and after the repair? Let's at least say that they destroyed it and did a very sloppy repair job? What if someone got the idea of using inserted hydraulic oil pressure into the flywheel hub? Simply drill a hole in to the shaft and put a hydraulic fitting on the hub, pump, pull and voila, bobs your uncle and so on!
In heavy engineering it's about getting the job done. They succeeded and did a great job with antiquated equipment. In the UK we would have to go back over a 100 years and more and we would probably have far better equipment even then. These guys work very hard, probably just scratching a living. To be admired. That drive pulley needed serious rebuilding as well,- going to chew through belts. They really butchered the rim getting it off. Big job but they got it done in the end. I was blown away by the fact that the work was already too sloppy in so many ways. The workpiece was hit against the core-press machine as hard as possible, and the slinging was super sloppy. The shaft was pulled out with a rock drill without fixing the workpiece, and the ground was sand for handling bearings. There are plenty of other things to be picky about. What is safety awareness? I watched the whole thing. It is Inspirational and Educational. The intelligence, ingenuity, hard work, and resolve of this team and their good natured grit put me in the mood to work. You Brothers are the Best.
Salut untuk perjuangannya. Tidak mengenal menyerah.tidak ada yang gak bisa
We use heat and dry ice. We also use rosebud heaters in place of the oxygen torches...little surprised they didn't clean the shaft before welding. seen plenty of porosity...but all things being equal they doing what they can...

Yup boil bearings in oil and dry ice the shaft..did many 500s powerscreens
Молодцы,терпение и труд все перетрут. О чего интересно этот механизм? Титанический труд.

Next time, try a much bigger gasnozzle. Like 2" wide. This cutting torch won't make a difference on that piece of steel. It's warming up to slow, so the axle is warming up, too. That's a lose-lose situation. You already got the gas and the oxygen. So that's the only thing you need. No matter how stuck it is, it will get loose. You will save your shoulders and back for sure.

I use a #13 Bull tip on a 3 foot junk yard torch to heat up big stuff and even the shanty in the winter time

You are right, they need bigger touches, BUT YOU ALWAYS START HEATING FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE PULLY, LET THE HEAT GET TO THE MIDDLE, KEEP THE SHAFT COOL WITH A LITTLE WATER, A strong Back and a 50 Ton jack loading ,keep going round and round the outside,by the time it hits the shaft it,ll just pop off and the shaft, I,ve done a few bigguns, India, and the far East still use the old MANGLES, BUT THEY ALSO HAVE SOME UP TO DATE GEAR, BUT SO DID THE DOCKYARD IN THE 50,S UK,

The SHAFT WILL BE A BIT HOT, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO STOP IT, THE OUTSIDE WILL BE TEN TIMES HOTTER, ITS A BIT HARDER WHEN YOU START SHRINKING IT BACK ON,

Iron oxide melts and turns liquid at a much lower temperature than steel. Iron oxide is what was bonding the pulley wheel to the shaft. So yes, ditch that puny cutting torch and get several 2" heating torches, we call them tiger torches. Heat the pulley and shaft to red hot. Hoard the heat it in with fire brick or sheets of scrap tin to heat faster and conserve fuel. When the shaft and pulley are red hot the oxides between the pulley and shaft will be liquid and will actually be a lubricant which will allow the pulley to slide off MUCH easier.
14:47 - love the way the load is secured in that pickup truck and it only gets better from there nicely done

I like when people put in more efforts to make things work.
The improvisation and ingenuity alone are simply astounding.
They are able to do so much with so little. Practical and inventive thinking. Quite impressive.
Much respect. I wonder if the crushing and screening plant was down until the primary jaw crusher was repaired?
Those guys taught me that there is nothing impossible!
It looks like this place might be a large mining camp. Parts of this video is like watching a cartoon. When the loader drove up the hill with it I was thinking they were going to just drop it off the top of the hill.

대단합니다. 49분 영상 하나도 빠짐없이 보게 되네요. 좋은 영상 감사합니다~!
Heavy engineering at it very best. Well done guys.
You must heat the rim of the pulley to expand the bore. Heating around the hub just makes it tighter! Get about 4 men with big torches heating the rim at once. Have your puller preset and loaded.

Not only that, but they got welders and cut-off wheels… they could make much nicer tools to jostle this stuff than what they got (barely anything). I’m sure there’s enough junk they can repurpose for that.

No, it has been proven time and time again, not only by experience in loosening stuck stuff, but also by actually measuring holes in heated plates. The hole gets bigger. Also, the heating and cooling helps to draw the penetrating oil into the crack. And finally, it is also understandable by analyzing the physics and geometry. Then the immediate area is heated, the metal expands in all directions and the expansion in the direction around the circumference of the rim causes the hole to expand. Again, not just theory. Measured result.
I am full of admiration for these guys. We in the UK are bogged down by to many rules regarding health and safety. These lads have to be very careful not to lose fingers toes or eyesight.
