Well lets see, Sonic 1 was a huge success and demanded a sequel so they started work on more games. For Sonic 2 they made Eggman a bigger threat by giving him bigger more menacing machines as well as things like a big airship, death star, and metal sonic. Also they made the chaos emeralds actually do something now. Audiences loved all of it so they amped it up even further for Sonic 3 and added stuff like even bigger eggman machines, metal sonic having a super form, and a big final space battle at the end. Once again it was another huge success so they brought the franchise into 3d with Sonic Adventure and created an actual plotline featuring the chaos emeralds front and center with a big magic water demon as the big baddie, and experimented with the gamma storyline where you get to play a redemption arc from one of the baddies. With another massive success under their belt they made Sonic Adventure 2 and made playing as the baddies a core aspect of the game. Only problem is that the dark team needs to have enemies to fight all game long so they introduced GUN into the story, and since they needed an evil version of Sonic they created Shadow. Once again, another huge success, but for the next game, rather than raise the stakes again they wanted to tone things down when they made Sonic Heroes, so they made a simpler plot that was basically just Metal Sonic being mad that he wasn’t in the last two games. Heroes was a bit of a flop for SEGA as people were upset about the lack of an actual plot, and the fact that the game forces them to play the exact same levels 4 times in a row as different characters, when the only ones that they liked were team Sonic and team Dark. So SEGA decided to give them exactly what they were asking for, an even darker, edgier game where Shadow was front and center, with so much plot that nobody even knows what to do with it all. Thats how this game came to be.

Shadow just looks like he is the leader for a very edgy hard rock metal band.

I have the GameCube version bought it last year from CeX for Xmas. Best version to play it on. And shadow can you hear me? This might the last chance I have to speak with you. What I said about having created you it was all a lie! Everyone thought you died during that horrible incident. But I rescued you with one of my robots. You lost your memory that’s all you really are the ultimate life-form my grandfather created.

I loved playing this game in my teens my favorite scene is where Shadow regrets being created it’s such a touching moment Jason Griffiths was the best voice actor for both Shadow the Hedgehog and for Sonic 👍💙🖤🦔

I kind of wish that you would add time stamps for each and every cutscene labeled describing the cutscenes so if you download the video with a KZread downloader the downloaded video would have a cutscene selection menu in the chapters menu in VLC like time stamp at 19:04 could be titled Circus Park Intro or Where’s That Damn 4th Chaos Emerald or what ever you think would be the best name for that timestamp chapter same for all the other cutscenes in the game

You can like this game it’s fine. A lot of people hate it. And I can see why. Because you need to play the same game 10 times to unlock the full story which is boring as heck why did they do this? Look, you can disagree with me if you want but in my opinion I wish you would have to play the same game 3 times. 1 in neutral, 1 in semi hero, and 1 in hero but not the rest of the paths.

Released like 2 years apart too with Heroes in 03 and this in 05 so they most likely figured it would be easier since 06 (and secret rings) had also been in development at the time
