Showing all of the steps in preparation and the mistakes made is good to show how deep this game is. Someone with so many hours and depth of understanding teaching all along the way.

It's fun to seeing the setup at the beginning and all of the potential possibilities that are considered.

Its a LOT of fun, give it a go. Just expect to lose badly your first couple of games even on easier settings. There are plenty of things that can happen during the play to screw you over if you havent prepared for it.

You mention that advisors are not important; I think they are actually very useful, unless I misunderstand how they work. When you assign them to work with someone, they both roll skill skill checks for anything done in that job, and the game chooses the higher. This can significantly improve roll outcomes! Plus, the advisor can be moved around as needed. Tired of rebellions in newly captured cities? Train your advisor in governing skills by assigning him to a governor, then move him to advise the new frontier governors when needed. No relationship debuffs for firing them; they are meant to move around!
