Shadow Empire | Minos Tribe | Ep. 072 - Let's Plan This War

Ойындар

Shadow Empire is my favourite strategy game, a masterpiece 4X/Wargame hybrid from VR Designs, published by Matrix. In this new series, I ramp the difficulty up to Hard and play on what I expect to be a fairly difficult planet in the hopes of testing the AI out properly.
You can find the game at www.matrixgames.com.

18:38 - Remember, there is no damage bonus for having a larger weapon caliber than the armor. The max damage is at equal. More armor will decrease weapon damage. So in this example, your 180mm AT Guns will do their listed damage against the enemy Metalheads, without a bonus. If the Metalheads had 200mm armor, then your AT Guns would do 90% of their listed damage (a -10% modifier).

mechanized personnel carriers and buggies also hold a larger storage of food so they can operate behind lines for two turns if they have fuel. The catch is that they need flat ground that is preferably paved.

APCs are better on non-flat ground than buggies because they have tracks. Their weapons, like infantry, are twice as powerful on defense as well. So you can't just base their ability to defend by their HP. However, buggies are great as a reactionary force because they can rapidly redeploy using your roads. I use buggies the entire game, even if I get to plasma tanks.

Ha finally caught up.. lol thought I was on them last episodes. (^.^) Well, looks very decent position to be in now, though it may change at a moment's notice. Perhaps you may do an overhaul of your inf, given the Field Testing they have or things like them RPG's and such. All of those basic troops are little bit aged, might give much more bang for the buck with better stats. Perhaps an new loader model or ironsight? Both are decently used and also aged a bit. Given some lack them linear tech's might be worth while? Can't wait for the next, thanks for all the great work :)

Timing the model upgrades takes some skill and experience, because of that scaling BP cost paid by the model design council for each new iteration of a model. I think for the Infantry I'll probably eithsr make a whole new model now, or I'll wait for the next level of tech, unless there are some Linear tech advances that affrct their performance. I should probably spend some time going over each model and figuring out which can be upgraded and which cannot, before the endgame starts. Cheers, glad you're still enjoying the series this far in

Looks like the second Goldstone campaign is off to a decent start. Keeping the momentum going is gonna be tricky. I'm getting a slight feeling the trainstation in Minos is getting a little overwhelmed as it is and you haven't even gotten to laying track to the new front. I concur, aircraft will be most useful here once you get them going, very little cover so it should be easy enough to hit the target. Perhaps you should consider designing some close air support or tactical bombers in the blueprints. With turboprops, as long as you don't overload them, should be able to cover a lot of ground.

I'll keep harping on the fact that you should be spending fate points. I know some people think you need to keep them for emergencies, but I've rarely had a situation where I absolutely needed a card that uses fate points. They are all bonus cards, not get out of jail cards. Also, if you have the Interior Council, they will generate a Mission Impossible stratagem which will at the very least give you 1 fate point on a failed role or 4 points on a critical role. I've been able to routinely play the green cards and maintain a pool of fate points this way. So I would absolutely spend those 2 points to give that Military Research counselor the Ear Lock. Low relationships kill council performance.

Yeah I'll try to remember to take a look at the FPs. Although the people who say to save them for emergencies are wise: you never know when you're gonna need that last ditch Credit/PP boost.
