Ian Gilland he was part of the Orion project and it wasn’t a failure but it did have a lot of unattended side effects so he was the last still in service so Spartan 2s were named to honor them

Not really, if you think about it, the Scorpion had far better armor, a better gun, and was faster than any tanks we have today. Plus it can be operated by a single person as opposed to modern tanks which require a crew.

7:52 - 8:07 I love that subtle bro moment there between the Master Chief and Johnson. Johnson wanted to drop down with the Master Chief and ODSTs, but he is abruptly reassigned to a different role for the mission. So he fist bumps his buddy’s drop-pod on the way out to essentially tell him “Good luck.” Likewise, the Master Chief fist bumps back as if to say “Thanks/You too.” It’s one of the few subtle moments of normal human interaction that the Master Chief actually shares with someone in the first games to show he’s not just some “robot.”

Spartans work well and can even somewhat socialize with other Spartans. Johnson being an Orion candidate, he is essentially a Spartan I as it were.

Very similar to Forge's fight with the Arbiter in Halo Wars 1. The UNSC marine corps hasn't changed one bit, until Halo 4 rolled around. (But we don't speak about "new" Halo)

I have to tell you though, its corps. In this case its in regards to the Marine Corps, I believe. Corps is pronounced the same way as core, so it's easy to get mixed up. I don't write this to disrespect you in anyway, I just thought that you might want to know for the sake of knowledge.

@@heartysquid Not necessarily, the vast majority of the gunnery sergeants I met were hella crusty, that barracks managers was definitely an exception though, and most of the ones that were up to 11 were new E-4 or E-5's wanting to look better to their superiors.

I've been saying that for years now. There are 3 video game series that, if made correctly, could be some of the best movies ever. Number 1.) Would be a halo movie. Literally have 1-2 movies, and retell the stories of halo 1-3 and maybe have some branching stories to alittle before, and side stories for what's happening during. 2.) God of war. You wouldnt even have to change much, its linear gameplay would make it extremly easy to follow the story, while also adding to it alittle for the adaptation. And 3.) The kingdom hearts series. I just believe with how much they use, and with how large Disney and square are I think they could make an amazing movie on the series.

Sgt Johnson is cool (beyond cool and badass actually) but I wished that they put more focus on Sgt Stacker. The guy fought alongside Noble Team and Master Chief. Lived through Reach, Earth, both destructions of Halo and Prometheans. He's probably the last surviving marine of the original cast that didn't die, leave or enter early retirement. One does not mess with this hardcore Southern American marine.

Its crazy to think that Sgt Johnson is one of the oldest characters in the universe. When he dies in Halo 3, he's about 90 years old. Being frozen for long periods of time/travel for war, really helps with not aging.

thats why he didnt get infected by flood. his DNA got scrambled by the spartan-I program, so the flood spores weren't able to infect him and chief pulled a gun on sgt johnson cause he found out he was immune to the flood so master chief thought that sgt johnson was infected. this happened after regrouping with him after the ring blew up cause sgt johnson and squad of marines were in a pelican and escaped the explosion. also chief was given the choice to sacrifice johnson to make a drug that can be used to combat the flood or something, but it was too much of a slim chance of it working so chief said no.

Oh I know what the ladies like. RIP Sgt. Johnson. Born a baddass. Lived as a badass, and died with a bang like a baddass.

Blur must have read the books. They really nailed the universe of Halo. I loved these scenes, every bit of them.

Just to give you perspective, when Chief and Johnson first met, Chief was 15 and Johnson already had 20 YEARS of combat experience behind him fighting the Insurrection and the war with the Covenant, which lasted 3 deacdes, was only a few months old at that point, which was how they came to be introduced as the Spartan 2's needed Johnson's experience from fighting them at Harvest. That's how far back these 2 go!

I will say this; no matter how much sgt johnson's cutscenes in any game are changed, no matter how many remasters it goes through, his lines ALWAYS get to me; the amount of thickening badass in his voice makes up for any problems he has in whatever game he's in, especially his "Regret" intro-line, am I right?

@@lostkin4910 Keep in mind, this is when the Arbiter has his mind clouded by the Prophets' Great Journey. He's in the beginning of his character arc. Later on he begins to respect Johnson and humanity, as the Prophets betray the Elites. He even calls the Chief his friend in the later games, as well as saying kind words to Chief about Johnson after his dealth at the end of Halo 3. He reminds me of the Arbiter from Halo Wars (or vice-versa). They're very prideful and honor bound. He doesn't like being talked down to, it irritates him.

8:02 I love the subtle exchange of “let’s go fuck em up” between Johnson and Chief.

The fun that chief and Johnson have together in scene is just legendary

I never knew way Sgt. Johnson was so loved as a character, until I saw this. I played Halo 2 a bunch of times but I guess I was to young to notice or care about story and the character development. Can't wait to play the whole saga again in PC!

Since the first game, I really enjoyed Johnson: Johnson, the man of the situation, Johnson, the exemplary soldier with the right level of brain to say "Are you out of you're god damn mind?!" to higher ranks, Johnson, the man with the right comment at the right time for any time. Shame he died though.

You know Johnson could very well return, and their reason for him surviving could be "It's classified. Not the first time he exploded at the end of a game and survived.

The look that Chief and Johnson give each other when they both reply to Cortana’s compliment kills me.

That fist bump through the drop pod between Chief and Johnson is iconic. Brothers.

@@fussiestgoblin2872 Project Orion was the first UNSC attempt at a super soldier unit. Adult soldiers given augmentation to make them deadlier in the field. Kind of a Captain America-lite if you will. Johnson was one of those Orion soldiers. The project was deemed a failure as while it did make better soldiers, it wasn't working out as well as possible and many of the Orion soldiers were maimed by the upgrade. Years later when Dr. Halsey was developing her own attempt at super soldiers, she came across Project Orion's work and wanted to honor the sacrifices those soldiers made. She named her own soldiers the Spartans (named after the 300 Spartans who fought and died at Thermopylae, as she had 300 initial candidates and they'd be the ones guarding the UNSC) and declared them specifically Spartan-II, retroactively naming the Project Orion soldiers Spartan-I. This makes Johnson a Spartan as much as Master Chief is, just from an earlier generation. Like how Noble Team (aside from Jorge) are the 3rd generation Spartan-III and in Halos 4 and 5 we have the next generation Spartan-IVs.

This is probably my favorite remake, they did an amazing job with the game, blur knocked it out of the park with the cutscenes, really brought the glory days of halo back

Cut scenes like this make the game so good and so amazing to watch back and back over just like the world at War cuts scenes

Can they please just do this as an actual full length movie. I'd personally like to see a movie on noble team or the ODSTs.

I wanna see a halo game about the marines where you can customize your character and skill set for that character

Miranda is really well animated in the awards cutscene. the fact you can quite easily tell what she's feeling is a nice improvement on the original cutscenes.

Best gaming CGI I've seen years.

Sgt. Johnson tellin chief to smile when he's got a helmet and face shield on.

“How you doing” such polite Sgt, even in war he never forgets his manners. “Please... don’t shake the light bulb.” And a good sense of humor “Listen Tinkerbell, don’t make me”

Ohhhhh, I found the missing piece! We need comic relief in halo 5. We're not robot soldiers. We need to have some laughs once in a while.

Johnson is that kind of badass that would look out over a field of charging Covenant infantry, light a cigar, blow a huge cloud of smoke and say, “just another Monday.”

The cinematic cuts are fucking fantastic, Blur did a great job!
