You’re missing the point, Aiden was looking for “inconvenient, consuming, can't live without you love” , with any available girl for this kind of relationship. Carrie wanted all this but with someone special for her.

@@basilisa3360 Basilis! Amazing critique. Holy balls. So true. Aiden didn't love Carrie for being her, she just filled a slot. Him taking her to the country, monitoring her smoking not relating to her shows this. The only thing they had in common was they wanted inconvenient consuming cant live without you love. This can also be terrible and quite a trap for disaster.

The writers are the ones who are looking for love and living vicariously through Carrie. They must be a messed-up lot. Hope they all find that "inconvenient, consuming, can't live without you love' they've been searching for.

Thank you! Finally someone who agrees with me about Aiden. I don’t know why everyone puts him on a pedestal. He was a control freak, selfish and judgemental. He and Carrie were no match. Big and Potrovsky were no saints either. I’m not sure Carrie met her match…maybe in the new series.

i love the commentary to this. it's almost completely silent because SJP is so beautiful here and is so raw. she is truely an amazing actress. i liked the russian alot, but he was never on the same level as carrie. i always think aiden was her emotial match, while berger was her mental, and big was her physical. i dunno what the russian was, maybe her fantasy match. he was a gorgeous older, rich man. who wouldn't go to paris with him?

It was always Big. You just cant help falling in love or who you fall in love with. I think it was always Big because after 6 years it seemed like they were just waiting for it to work out. The timing was always wrong and this time he was right on time.

I am such a massive fan of the show, which is why I couldn't stand SATC 2. I thought about this monologue a lot during the movie, and the love portrayed between Carrie & Big in the movie, was not the love Carrie had talked about here. It was such a disappointment, which is why I choose not to acknowledge SATC 2. I still believe that Carrie and Big have that "Can't live without each other love" not the "5 day a week" love.

He was all wrong for her. I think he only wanted Carrie as a "sculpture" to show off in one of his museum openings. He never wanted her to have a life, she was supposed to be at his beck & call...

this scene is GREAT but it does not compare to the one where she speaks to big before going to PAris. she's just so :{ and big is all :o but both are great scenes

Like many women, she was in shock. I would think that the first time it happens, anyone would be in a state of disbelief.

Such a child. The installation will be over with and life will go on. But she has no perspective. It wasn't always this way -- they were loving it up all over New York before the exhibition. But now is his crunch-point. And what's worse, she thinks she'll find "real love" with two-timing Big? Oh, do grow up!

yeah you're probably right.. she wasn't herself with the russian either.. with samantha's cancer, he wasn't supportive either, he's the worst of her boyfriends!
