Sewing a *Ridiculous* Valentines Dress

I decided to recreate a Katy Keene valentines dress. Sewing this dress was pretty chaotic and harder than I expected, but it all came to together in the end and looks fabulous! Sewing recreations is one of my favorite things to do. It's a lot of fun trying to figure out how to make something, especially if it's 2d.

A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. I AM HOWLING. There’s also something satisfying about revamping an old project that YOU made. Especially if it’s gathering dust. The dress turned out so friggin cute! I is so proud of yous 💕

Wow you nailed it! From the picture, I totally thought the white part was an undershirt showing from a huge cut out, but then the part above the chest does not look like her skin. The picture is confusing. Is the fabric above her chest supposed to be see through? But its apparently the same as the puffy sleeves and they are not see through.

I’m so shocked by how small your channel is still, especially with this kind of quality! I’m manifesting the algorithm gods are on your side. Love the way the dress came out in the end, especially the little white lace details. 😍

I just checked the original picture and I think the skirt is meant to be a puffball skirt. So it wouldn't have had so many layers, but more of a gathered balloon tube of fabric kind of thing, in a stiff fabric

😯 there’s soooooo many!!! Since this video I’ve downloaded the WHOLE run of Katy Keene and have been going through and grabbing all the paper dolls and outfit spreads. I plan on making a short video about it because it has a really cool story. I may even make a series out of recreating Katy Keene looks Do you have an Instagram where you post your Katy Keene looks?

My first thought was Charm Pattern's patreon pattern the Carousel dress for the skirt.

Oooh, I love this! Gertie's Carousel dress could be a nice beginner version of this dress sans epic 80s poofy sleeves.

Live blogging I do not get the 'kindergarten teacher' thing. Had she never met kindergarters? They are horrible little goblin monkeys, pretty dresses will never survive in that kind of enviroment. ...but that neck looks like a simple stand collar to me? Rectangle the length of the neckline with the ends raised about 1cm?? duct tape is so much work. Fabric looks so pretty, and so so horrrible to the touch. 😶‍🌫 Now that is a properly floofy skirt! Very cute!
