A small but intense severe thunderstorm impacted northwestern portions of the St. Louis metro area on August 25th, 2022, bringing with it high winds, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, and torrential rains. This storm was quite unexpected, as the SPC hadn't highlighted the area for any risk of severe weather, and the day was supposed to be generally sunny and dry, with no chance for storms until almost midnight. Some wind damage occurred in Bridgeton, MO, where power lines were downed and street signs were blown over.
I had just gotten off of work and was in the middle of eating dinner when the storm popped up and moved in. I initially didn't expect the storm to be very intense, so I just decided to continue eating and film on and off from inside my hotel room in case something cool happened. When things got really intense, I quick ran outside to try to get better footage, but the storm started dying down shortly after.
At work the next morning, powerlines were down, portable bathrooms were thrown everywhere (not a single one on the entire site was left standing), and many signs were blown down and scattered around. Power was out on the work site for about 20 hours after the storm hit.
