I have never seen a more honest, realistic, and genuine series before. Love It!
Greetings from Ireland. What a lovely programme thank you for sharing your life's story.
Politicians and weather...and the self righteous... Farmer's bane. Excellent program...
An excellent series of a farming life told with a hint of nostalgia but also with intelligence and for the time a very forward looking, balanced outlook which still resonates today. It would be fantastic if this could be followed up by a look at the state of farming in Britain today and the geopolitical situation.
Best thing I have seen for a long time I bet the bbc would not play it now.
This is so so true and the effects of it are to be seen today.
Thanks for such an interesting series. I hope your legacy continues up until the present and beyond.
Years of knowledge in that man's words
Fabulous, really enjoyed this, reminded me of my childhood as I was lucky enough to have been brought up on a farm in the 50s 60s which had one remaining heavy horse with all of the original tack he remained on the farm in idyllic retirement

Wise man the Beeb would not show this now.
We are in the same boat 37 years on
It's ridiculous that for half a century farmers have essentially been farming a subsidy.
