@@eoinscully4567 Funny you mention that, I did start recoring an audio book of it but I only got two chapters done and that was months ago! Having embarked upon it I will probably finish it but I'm not sure if I could commit to doing any more audio books, it's a pretty time consuming process to edit the audio and the work is dull. It will come out eventually but not any time soon

@@gadai4609 my favorite video is Bertie Ahern audiobook and my most interested politician is Charlie Haughey so when you said stated Charlie Haughey audiobook I was wow but in fairness I wouldn't be able to reread either book 📖 and make a video. But please keep up great work and bring more content to us we love it

@@eoinscully4567 that is interesting but I can't say I blame you, if you think KZread is starved of Irish Political History, Audible is even worse, it has Berties book, Fintan O'Tooles book on the Celtic Tiger, David McWilliams second book and Diarmuid Ferritars book on the troubles and that's literally it I'll try find some time to finish the audiobook certainly!

Lemass probably the most successful Taoiseach in Irish political history

Just a shame he wasn't Taoiseach during the 50s, he would have done a better job in modernising Ireland than the ancient DeValera, who hated the modern world come the 50s.

Wasn't given enough time or encouraged, he would have spent too much money...

@johnking5174 I think it is exaggerated how bad he was. For example he was a rugby fan so you can guess his view on the ban on foreign sports. Furthermore in terms of emigration, that was happening all over Europe (This is not to write it was not a problem.) and into the '80s at least Britain was a net emigrant country, the same with Scandinavia in the '50s. Furthermore in moral terms, his policies were in line with most Irishmen who you know voted for him (Whilst in the rest of Europe I doubt democracy was their goal when they liberalised just about everything.). Edit: I must also add that Éamon de Valera did not enrich himself out of his politics, and there is evidence that he was worried about money when leaving office. A lot of the issues presented here is pursuing "progress" for progress' sake.
