As Patten later acknowledged, contrary to his earlier comments, the Tories should have let Thatcher carry on in 1990 and probably lose the 1992 election.

Like them or hate them, the Healy-Rae’s are in tune with Kerry. They care about their people, and are plain speaking Culchies. I think we need more of that in the Dail and local councils these days☘️🇮🇪☘️

Gene's not wrong in a general sense about the child-horror stuff, but missed the mark here. The Newt character helps establish the motherhood motif not just for Ripley, but for the aliens as well. The way that counterpoint plays out is a huge part of why the Aliens franchise has resonated for so long.

RoboCop 2 had its moments, but to be honest, it’s just disgusting and somehow more disturbing than the first. The Cain Cyborg was incredibly cool, but other than that, this movie is sick.

It’s essentially only Fine Gael that we, in the 6 counties who are loyal to His Majesty the King, & our duties & obligations as His loyal subjects to the UK, can even begin to trust. The stern & ruthless grip they’ve often maintained upon the murder gangs of republicanism is to be commended.

They definitely missed the mark on this one. I’ve never understood the wall to wall comment about the action in this movie. It does have fantastic action sequences but it’s not nonstop. I think that is a credit to how good the movie is. Also, I wonder if they had been aware of Ripley losing her daughter would that change the perception of Newts character.

I love that indignant reference Mr Costello made to Mr De Valero ( as so many British officials & commentators used to refer to him as, fumbling over his surname ) referring to the Cabinet members scrambling & racing for posts ! What a marvelous cartoon scene ! A Cabinet ‘ battle royal ‘ !

U2 were in the music BUSINESS. It's a weird Irish thing that if they dont die penniless alcoholics or drug addicts then its not romantic enough for us. They were successful, stop begrudging. Eamo is a charming spoofer, anyone fooled by him is an idiot.

If the film didn’t have the child Newt, Siskel would not have hated the film. Children in danger in films was one of his biggest pet peeves as he thought it was the cheapest ploy for thrills.
