I've disassembled a 12a engine couple years ago with oil control ring failure. Got no history on that engine but it was fubar

Literally doing this right now and wanted to triple check VS the fsm and realised my motor had the springs installed backwards by the last guy. Does explain quite a bit 🤦 also had one housing with a massive ported exhaust and the other stock. Wonder why these things have a reputation. Still never blew, just doing an early freshen up and porting

When determining excessive wear what is the guideline when inspecting used Oil Control Rings? Can used rings be lightly surfaced on glass with sand paper to be leveled out and honed for re-use since there is so enough material thickness to work with?

When Mazda when From 2 side seal to single side seal it helped Hella with Gas Sealing. Should I go single Oil control ring with Next Generation Rotor? Mazda went extra with scrap ring in my options and now there's are 3 rings instead of singular. Just opinions ♻️🤙

Very cool video, I think my oil control rings are going bad on my series 4 FC. I have a really heavy misfire until over 4,000 RPMs and it smooths out till Red line. And when I pull spark plugs or coated in dark oil. Last oil change was 2,000 miles ago

I talk about how they commonly fail in the video. Oil smoke on startup. I don't think your misfire has anything to do with oil control rings. Are you getting excessive blue smoke. Is not to be confused for fuel smoke
