After playing around with this radio for some months, I am more and more satisfied. What's really missing is a good instruction manual. When understanding all the functions of this radio, it's pretty good for it's price. And well beyond that. I have also tested the AT-778UV with a spectrum analyzer, and there is *no spurious or harmonic emissions* above -60dBc up to 3.2GHz. So it should satisfy most technical regulations worldwide. i tried using chirp to program mine, it left a garble on the welcome screen instead of my callsign and strangely it didn't, or seemingly didn't program in the receive tone squelch for each repeater i programmed in, switching to anytone's programming software, it was able to read what i had put in with chirp, and i added what was missing. so for now, i will just use anytone's software until chirp gets to a reliable state. for completeness sake, my radio is a 778uv II, so the original 778's might be a better fit with chirp.

I've had this radio in my pickup for just a few days and I really like it. I wish the screen was a little brighter as it's difficult to see in bright daylight. I also changed the microphone hook to a standard button type. Took 30 minutes to program the entire unit with Chirp. The 25W/15W/5W feature is nice. The closest repeater (and the one I use most) is only 5 miles from me so I certainly don't need to be on high power to reach it. Curious what the longevity will be as it appears that the less expensive radios don't have a long lifespan. At any rate, for $130 it seems to be a great little radio.

@@mr.classic. The Anyone mobile is perfectly suitable for communication. On 2 meters it only does 25 watts versus those other radios that do 60+, but if you can not hit a repeater at 25 watts, it would be unreliable to hit at 60. I'm sorry you probably made a bad financial decision and purchased one of those instead of the anytone which offers much more flexibility and the same "distance" as the others. Your comment really is absurd and I'm tempted to just delete it.

@@K5DVT It is better for me and a group of my friends to put a dislike on this video so that you can adhere to good manners and respect others, instead of following the path of teenagers with your weak response.
