such a beautiful animal.. they are so special..usually independant but this boy knows how to act . He lets the serval approach him.. by not imposing himself on the cat ,, naturally the cat will bond with him.. Nice lesson on how to behave with any cat.

I'm no expert, but I believe the licking may combine with the property mark to form a sort of family mark. When's the last time you've seen a cat lick a wall?

I'm a dog guy, but when I was living/working in Saudi Arabia in the late 90s, I took in two cats, one of which was pregnant. I ended up with three cats, all of whom I loved dearly, and have one today. After seeing Zeus, I want a serval so bad I can taste it. My next three pets will be a German Shepard, a Serval and an African Besengi. I'm also leaning toward a snow leopard, but I don't know if it's illegal.

I would love to have a Serval, they are such a stunning cat

He's marking the boy as his own by rubbing and licking so his scent is imprinted on the boy. It's the serval's way to say "he's mine now".

Just saw one of the first videos before I watched this one, seems both your boys are getting big. Zeus looks happy and healthy, and seems to have bonded well with your family, though he seemed like an affectionate cat right out of the kennel-carrier. Outstanding, and congratulations. Oorah.

Danyal Elia When cats rub their face over you like that, it means they are marking you as a person or something they Trust. someone Safe to be around. Zeus trusts her boy and so marks him as someone to be trusted :3 i only recently learned this. Spraying is marking territory.

Brittany Hall He is grooming and marking his scent on my son. He loves the smell of my son's hair/sweat/scent. And he loves the texture of his hair. It is his way of affectionately marking and grooming him. It shows trust and love.

They're supposed to be wild. But if raised properly and the owner know what is doing, they act like domestic cats.

I've had cats my literal entire life and yes, cats can really be this sweet. The thing is, the owner has to be really dedicated to bonding with the cat first. But if you are really affectionate with your cat, play with them every day, pet them multiple times a day, hand feed them treats and make sure they have good food, fresh water and a clean litter box, the cat will grow to love you and be incredibly sweet and affectionate and loving. I have two cats and one of them (the older one, Sage) sleeps beside me every night (The other younger one, Roxie, sleeps with my kids) and Roxie lays in my lap multiple times a day for petting and sleeps in my lap while I read every day. They follow me around the house all the time, I'm NEVER alone. Cats absolutely are amazingly affectionate and loving animals, but unlike dogs, you have to earn their love and trust by showing them that you are a gentle and caring owner that loves them and takes good care of them. Dogs will love you unconditionally even if you beat them, a cat needs to know that you're worth loving. But if you earn a cat's love it's a deep bond that transcends a normal pet/owner relationship. They're the best pets in the world. Get a cat, you won't regret it.

I love the African Savannah's thier so big and beautiful. The ear's a mesmerizing. I love to be their human slave after work. I've seen the servals with that extra length of hair on the tip of the ears. They have a way more serious look about them but are just as sweet when they like you.l
