Sergio Fiorentino in Bertinoro - Master Class piano ramblings
Video with Fiorentino's famed piano ramblings during or after master classes. Here - at ca. 10'50" - he suddenly plays a part of his own solo-piano transcription of Rachmaninoff's Waltz from the 2nd Suite for two pianos as well as fragments of the other movements - a rare document. Unfortunately he never played his transcription in full length and in a public concert as he considered it still not really finished.

Just extraordinary. Absurdly underated
Meraviglioso! Sublime!
Rachmaninoff - Fiorentino, Scriabin - Sofronitsky. Here are total absolutes in piano music.
This woman at 13'55": The soul of Rachmaninoff lives in your body".... She is right. And I think Fiorentino is one of the most underrated pianists of the 20th century. Thanks for this video!

People on youtube often say things like, Michael Jackson, one of the most underrated singers of all time. In Fiorentino's case the underrated tag is absolutely deserved. He is an unknown genius of the piano.
He plays that Rachmaninoff prelude so beautifully.
Masterly ramblings indeed, thru Moz,Beet,Brahms,Schum,Tchaik symphonies and Rach selections.Even tho most is improvised,he has it all in his head,an exceptional musician.I bless youtube,(and the kind poster!)for this type of vid, giving us a warm, touching personal glimpse of a very private man, rare artist, great pianist.

music comes so easy for him. and listen to those clean scales and octaves when he transcribes those symphonies, its like technique doesn't exit, only music does.

The same for the Chopin studies. He knocks them simply off!! He has certain virtuoso traits,NEVER to be surpassed by others!!!! Hear him playing Liszt!!!! Said to be an underrated pianist.Yeah...and WHY underrated ?.(a well known matter!!)

Well,I mean......lots of highly gifted performers are underrated, due to lacking of publicity.Or..by people having no clue to give any decent judgement. You know he went back to the conservatory to continuing teaching.(for health reasons??) You happen to know that other Italian pianist.....Alfonso Lombardi ? I never heard a Tchaikowski op 23 concerto musically like that!!
Remarkable!
A genial Master
