This made cry and realize the greatness of Rubinstein. I would've love to see at least a bit of his performances when he was younger. I can now image why he was so adored by the piano interpreters.

There's many recordings of him when he was younger. The earliest recording of him is from 1910. He started seriously recording in the 1930s when he was in his 50s

La saggezza dell'età e dell'esperienza, che conduce infine ad alleggerire l'interpretazione di una ballata (eseguita in mille modi diversi), da ogni "pomposita" . Questo è l'elemento in più, e molto altro, che il giovane, pur già bravissimo, ha potuto acquisire nel corso di questa preziosa lezione!

L’interprète qu'à compris le mieux l'inspiration de l'auteur, sa mélancolie légère, toujours lumineuse et presque féerique, ainsi que sa douleur profonde, exprimée sans artifice. Entendre Frédéric Chopin par Arthur Rubinstein donne des frisons et émue aux larmes.

Everyone plays Chopin improperly, but this old guy knows what's up "You're making too much of it" "Too pompous" "TA TA TA is not Chopin, that's for Liszt" He knows everyone oversentimentalizes Chopin's music and gives no fucks as to his tempo or rhythm markings and play it like they wrote it

Ta ta ta is wrong even with Liszt. Especially with Liszt. It's the mood how the bad pianist play Liszt music.

After watching Zimermman play this i simply can't be impressed. Zimermman is just perfection in Chopin.

Since I saw this great lesson, I always notice if pianists play that notes as an "espression of the melody", articulating them and making feel the sadness , or as an "abbellimento", fast and with accent, losing meaning. And many ones play in the second way...

צריך לבטא רגשות וביטוי פילוסופיה יהודית לפי שם או מבפר היצירה או הרעיון. לא רק סוג נגינה והקשה בשופן ועוד. זה קל. בכל מלחין. זה ממש קל. עם תורה. טכניקה זה דבר קל רק צריך להיות יהודי מאמין.
