Absolutely beautiful..I heard this numerous times on the "nocturne"show with marlyn lightstone on Toronto's new classical 96.3 and finally found out what it was.

One of the better clarinet solo's I have heard at the beginning of the 3rd movement. Most conductors drown out the solo with too many other instruments. This is the way it's supposed to be played.

Absolutely fantastic. A conductor without ego who allows the music to flow through him without interference and communicates this to a wonderfully receptive orchestra. Every single musician has their heart and mind open to express the emotion of this wonderful piece. I must confess I am deeply moved by your playing. Bravo!!!!

That is why one must always care for their instrument, the clarinet solo was wonderful until the squeak, but good recovery, the sign of a true professional. I love Rachmaninoff, beautiful this movement really touches your soul.

In his defense, that is a very difficult part of the solo. It is a note that must come out pianissimo. Hard enough in and of itself. Lots of players I know of use fake fingerings as he did. Between the unnatural tendency of those fake fingering and the breath support needed to play pp on an A clarinet, he did a commendable job. Bravo!!

Quien es el Clarinete solo al principio de la pieza? Impecable!

The first 30 seconds sounds like the chorus of Eric Carmen's 'Never Gonna Fall In Love Again', along with a small part at the 2 minute mark.

There's a good reason for that. Carmen was a classically trained pianist who based that song on this movement. He also based another song on Rachmaninov. His song "All By Myself" is based on the 2nd movement of Piano concerto #2.

La plupart des chefs jouent cet adagio trop vite : C'est dommage . Ici Pablo Castellano prend son temps et il bien raison : la musique respire. Si seulement nous pouvions avoir les autres mouvements ... l'appel est lancé!
