Bortkiewicz has a lot of musical jewels which are desperately underrated.....the second piano concerto has no problem to stand in front of Rachmaninov, Chopin or Liszt 😀

Rate them higher then. And if his concerto stands in front of Chopin it will get run over.

Wonderfully played. Beautiful music
This is the first video that joins audio and music sheet of this suite. Thanks 😎
Fun fact: when Bortkiewicz composed his opus 3 in the year 1906 he was already 29 years old.

Yes, but he was not alone. Roussel, Kiel and Kirchner(op. 2) wrote their op. 1 also with 29.. just to name a few.

That's why it shows so much depth and maturity
Love it
This will feature in a piano recital of mine.
Feels sort of like Blumenfeld
Nice.
He seems to have been more influenced by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff, but this work includes some melody of musical nationalism.

The texture in No.1 screams Brahms.
nice
No.4 is like Chopin's Etude Op. 10 No. 8 in F major (same key)
Like Rachmaninov !
Why is he so unknown
First time prokofiev
Yes, Bortkiewicz was influence by other composers but so what? Every composer was influenced by others. He was probably the last great Romantic before "modern" music rose. Hearing this I think of Brahms (perhaps due to the pianist).
Op.3 is a little too young...
Definitely some of the more forgettable bortkiewicz pieces
