Sergeant Marine Corps - Schwartz, Lewis J | Georgia in WWII
Mr. Lewis Schwartz was a Sergeant in the 3rd Marine Division. Though he trained to be a cook and baker, Mr. Schwartz carried wounded soldiers and supplied foxholes with ammunition during action in Guam and Iwo Jima. Mr. Schwartz shares his remembrances of the push at Iwo Jima, the decimation of the troops and a particularly moving story of watching another sergeant throw himself on a grenade to save the men in his foxhole.

Great interview. Thank you for doing these. I love the very end when he said “the marines went and made a place for you. Love your country and love your family too.” So true! Thanks to all the Marines and all who fought in World War 2.
Thanks to you and all rest that served! Thanks, everyone please remember the ones that didn’t make it back home!
