Now all of this might be true but I NEVER hear talk about How much Maria respects Serena’s game or how she has to play her best against her. Who is at the Top of Maria’s hate to lose list? @monty niranjan great comparison. You know what you’re talking about! But don’t forget, the times I’ve seen her lose to OSaka, the serve was always off a slight bit. Not horrible serving, but not really making the amount of first serves she’d like and then just starting off the point on the defense with too many second serves which then gives Naomi too many options during the point. On the other hand, Naomi’s serving is flawless when she beats her. Agree?

@monty niranjan It would be more equal. I’ve always said that if it were like tie break game where you play off the feed there are plenty of women that can hit with her. The only problem is that, many of the hard hitters on the women’s tour are slow.

Wish I could turn off these commentators while keeping the sound of the game.

The goal to Serena's next Grand Slam win is to play everyone with the intensity that she played Sharapova with!!

I love the sound of when the ball is hit in this Arena. It sounds like they’re hitting a baseball sometimes, especially when Serena and others hit it hard. Lastly, I love when Serena sometimes say “whoop”, because that’s her grunt sound that she doesn’t know she makes. And I love to hear Simona Halep grunt sound also, because it’s quiet and low-key also!

Serena wants to giver herself a chance???? These commentators should give us a break!!

I hate how they act like Maria was a formidable opponent and Serena has to be super locked in and on her A game to win. Serena is just that much better. Her C game can beat Maria on her best day. The match up is bad. Maria was a one trick pony...just power, no athleticism, no variety, no finesse, no defense, no tennis IQ, no where near as mentally tough. Her power just didn't phase Serena as she grew up training with Venus. I think Serena actually loved playing Maria because she knew there is nothing she could do to beat her. And the fact that Maria couldn't even make this match more competitive when Serena was post baby at her age is laughable.

@@carlswindelliv2701 I'd disagree. I'd say younger Serena was all about power, but she was a more thoughtful tennis player the older she got, particularly when she teamed up with Mouratouglou. She had a strategy and she used the court more successfully.

@@deedledave9826 I believe Serena has another Grand Slam in her. IMO, Serena should set aside one full year to focus on nothing but Tennis. She said she loves ALL the things she’s doing in her life. I know she does, but tennis is so demanding; therefore, she has to practice to make herself PERFECT again. She even said, she needs to practice more. Because all her opponents have been practicing and playing nonstop all year. So she has to give TENNIS her full attention for one year. That old Proverb is still true, even for our Queen: PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!! .

Maria is such a pace monster she hits out on everything with no variation Serena just devours all of it and then some. Maria some slices some spins something to change the pace up and break her rhythm. But nothing shes the female version of Jimmy Connors.

Not mostly men policing Serena for her body. She’s never been stick thin: 2007 AO, and 2010 AO come to mind. Regardless AO 2021 was the best display of movement in a while so the argument regarding her weight continues to remain invalid
