It's pretty crazy how literally every time Serena tried to be productive, everyone told her to stop because she was taking their spotlight. I can't imagine what that would do to someone's mind. And then with the same mouth they criticize her for being nothing. In this situation, i think Serena did the right thing because this guy's life was at stake, but she should've kept trying to work another way.

Fr it’s like no one wants to see her succeed bc they think she already succeeds too much which is partially true since she’s a rich socialite, but even so it’s sad how so many people were against her and complained about every little thing she did or didn’t do like girl let this woman live Serena doesn’t owe you shit 💀😭

I agree. It’s frustrating to see her criticized when she achieves something. But after I read the books, I got a better understanding of why. In the books, opportunities fell into Serena’s lap. And a lot of the time, they were opportunities Blair worked hard to obtain. And despite gaining these opportunities, Serena never wanted them. Throughout the entire series, she didn’t know what she wanted out of life. I think the show tries to pull from book Serena in this aspect, but they didn’t do it right. They gave tv Serena motivation and a desire to succeed. That’s why it comes off as frustrating.

@@LifetoLive1 yeah that makes more sense. But in the show we also see that Serena doesn't know what she wants. That's why she takes a gap year and looks for her dad. But the few times she does try to "work" like most people do when they're lost: (I mean very few people just sit around forever) people bring her down and say "work doesn't matter, she has a billion opportunities", or "she doesn't deserve it" or "you're taking my spotlight" etc. I mean from what I gather, it seems like everyone wants her to smile and do nothing forever and marry a rich man?? But even when she runs away season 6 to do that everyone trolls her. Of course Serena will always get an opportunity she doesn't deserve because that's who she is. She can't apply for a job and say "don't consider me for my beauty and last name". Even Trip took advantage of her. Overall the way everyone clowns Serena in the show reminds me of when they say Dan is an "outsider" even though he's more successful than all of them by the end (minus parent's money obviously)

I think it is especially sad because overall by the end of the show, Serena never gets to grow or mature; when as others said she could easily be successful.

career driven Serena is the best version of her, I love when she's productive and focused on achieving her goals.

I wish they made her more driven to have a career idk. If her main issue was being flaky, irresponsible, and dependent then learning to be independent, responsible, and have ambitions and hobbies would have integrated so much character progression especially since one of her main insecurities were people not thinking she was capable enough or more than just a dumb blonde party girl with no purpose 🙁

Yeah this episode was written by someone who has never been or doesn’t remember what it’s like to be an assistant/intern in Hollywood. Or maybe Serena really was getting better treatment just because of her name

The woman preferred Serena over the other one because she read one book. Hardly this was gonna be reality.

What a crappy guy.

How does Marshall know Serena ? Does he know her from gossip girl ? So even if she left New York she still judged for being given jobs easily ?

Instead of doing better, some people will just tear everyone else down. If the job was so important he was willing to risk someone's sobriety and another's reputation- then maybe he should have worked harder? Sucks that Serena was so young she couldn't stand up for herself.

@@SunshineBarbie-sv4bi I have to disagree on Blair Blair is very rude but eventually she came around and realized the bullying she did caught up to her and actually changed her intentions chuck I also disagree on but Bart I agree Bart is worse then Serena. Also Serena is very nice but she’s always going through the constant same issues with relationship problems and getting mostly everything she wants and that caused other people to have destructive behavior because they can’t stand how she’s she never changes herself and is a pick me people pleaser

@@changinglocale9114 and how is it Serena’s fault she gets everything she wants ? Things came easier for her because unlike Blair she isn’t an entitled spoiled brat with a rotten attitude. If Blair was actually a decent person things would have been easier for her it’s not Serena’s fault Blair is an unbearable awful rotten snob. Believe it or not but acting like an unlikeable bratty Karen like Blair did throughout the entire show will not get you far in life
