That's the beauty of it, IMO, it's an "AK-74" among tanks, where the T-34-76 is the original "AK-47" before it got improved to "AKM" standard aka the T-34-85 ;-) I keep saying ak a lot... weird =D

I'm from Bosnia. Seeing this tank, I felt kinda patriotic towards Serbia, It's a common feeling, but the tank is so damn good, Serbia is a small country, but the politicis and the military are ahead of it's competition, most of luck towards you, followed you since the beginnings.

Your reaction is only natural bro, I am a Serb but when I see our neighboring countries having something good I get equally happy and wish them the best as well because we are all small countries and at the end of the day, we have more in common with each other than we have with anyone else despite our infighting over the dumbest things imaginable.

Not really, The armor composite is still worse. Also The ERA bricks Serbia has aren't the best at protecting against apfsds like kontakt-5. The plus side for the M-84AS2 is that it has very good fire control system and thermal imagery. But its new apfsds penetrating 550mm at the highest isn't better then 3BM46 svinets. Not to mention T-72B3 has 3BM44M lekalo and 3BM60 Svinets 2, both penetration around 600-670mm of steel. Don't get me wrong, this tank is a very good progressionary upgrade. But the Russians still has more budget then the serbs, and although the serbian tanks are good with fire control systems and thermals, the russians still spends more money on high armor, powerful ERA, powerful projectiles, and in a flat planes stand point they don't really need 3rd gen thermals, 2nd gen improved thermals has a lot of 3rd gen traits, just a bit more budget. The only thing the T-72B3 are lacking on is commander thermals, besides that it can easily out tank and out penetrate the M-84AS2.

@@25.muh.siswadibudiartodani88 It was a controversial point to call the T-72 obsolete. Depends on which variant. I assume we are still talking about T-72B3. He mentioned in previous videos that the T-72B3 was obsolete due to the upgrade still being 1 generation behind. The T-72B3 is still modern standard. It isn't the best of the best tho. That being said what are we looking for? Simple we look at the armor values kontakt 5 effectiveness combined with armor. Fire control system, and thermals. Lastly we look for projectiles. The T-72B3 isn't the best T-72 out of all of the series. Even the T-72B2 rogatka beats it out in armor. But the serbians and Ukrainians (All of Eastern Europe) is still far behind russia is ERA engineering and armor designing. on a 1v1 basis with the T-72B3 and M84AS-2, the T-72B3 still has better armor and APFSDS. Point being said, doing extensive research on the T-72B3 would conclude that it isn't obsolete when fighting 1980-1990 tanks like the base M1A2 abrams. But its not built for the fights of tomorrow so thats why its stated as "obsolete". T-72B3 isn't a slouch either way because we are talking about developing countries with a lower budget then russia. Thats why the most modern serbian tank can be compared to russias semi top of the line mbt.

@@lukabogdanovic4658 proof? The United States never prioritized in heavy ERA. M-19 ERA is just an standard improved ERA with a thin shield on the front. Kontakt-5 ERA is nothing but 2 big metal plates sandwiching an explosive. It it also known that it can defeat 30mm rounds without exploding, so no light arms fire or auto cannons can set off an explosive. The M-19 has no history like that, except for the small shield in the front that protects the era from 7.62 gun fire. It isn't resistant to 30mm bullets. Part of mm or caliber resistance adds on to the era,s ability to divert an AFPSDS shell. From what I know the M-19 isn't considered Heavy ERA. Its just normal era with a small arms fire face shield. It defiantly isn't strong enough to impact an AFPSDA shell, otherwise the russians would have made detachable penetrator tips for their long rods, like the U.S and NATO had to do in order to not destabilize their rounds when smacking into a very dense ERA. so no, you're wrong.

@Nic Sauter wrong, only the first 150 M84's have a 780 hp engine (the same one from T-72A), the later ones were supercharged to 1000 hp and designated M-84-A. That german 1200 hp engine on the croatian ones was installed in early 2000's, long after the production of this tank ended.

The disgusting friends of hellywood who made the antiSerb movie to document what them communists are doing to us normal Serbs for 70 years, are not the ones who make and operate this tank. They could be the targets though :D

Same problem as the old T72 armor, there is no armor protection at the 2 front sides. If a light RPG or anti tank missile weapon hits the front sides, it would directly damage the track. But the armor improvement on the side is perfect,

As a malaysian who knows that M-84AS2 is better than PT-91M. I hope malaysia defence ministry take an opportunity to upgrade our PT-91M because we're lacking behind...

Following current war i UA, and according to tankers there, reverse speed seemed pretty important and on t72 variants and t64 is terrible, is reverse on M84 series same as on T72 series?
