You really do make great videos... I have a few soldering irons as I’m an electronics engineer, my favourites are TS100 number 1... and the Antex 690D.

Great Review 👍 I got my D60B Sequre at deal price of 18€ at BG and never regretted it - had the first field repair one day after I put it in my bag and since then often in use after crashes (my video cables cam + vtx tend to get loose all the freaking time 😅)

@@MaiOnHigh I mean banggood sale (as they have sale all the time) but typically they were about 20€ but as "sale" 2 bucks cheaper 🤣 Since then the price was pretty stable that low (around 18€)

Great review, Lexie!!! 😊 I have a cheap soldering iron, but with an adjusting wheel to change the temperature... And it really makes all the difference! Before I had 3 different wattage soldering irons. It wasn't funny. 😬 I also have the TS100, but I leave it in my backpack, so I only use it when I'm traveling. 😊 Anyway, this one is definitely in my wishlist! 😂 Stay safe and flying there! 🖖😊

Yeah this one actually shocked me and damn it's decent! I have my ts100 in backpack for ever (afraid I won't put it back 😂)

TS80... uses Audio jack to heat the tip.... which keeps me in the mindset of frequencies which puts me inline with filters and PIDs...

Sometimes wiring battery leads take more temp (the reason 450c is useful) due to the dissipation of heat through the large wires.

Thank you, I just ordered one of those and wanted to use it with my laptop charger. Then I heard your comment it doesn't work. Then I read in the comments it works and needs to be DC. I have a 65W DC USB-C PD charger and I guess I'll find out when the parcel arrives, but chances it works are good. A roller-coaster of emotions lol. Cheers from BG

Hey Lexie, I started this hobby about 3 years ago. Only started soldering a year ago. Would always ask my mates to fix it for me. But, it did affect my flying. I was scared cos I couldn't go home and fix the quad! Learning to solder actually improved my flying!!

@@MaiOnHigh haha yeah, I bought a wizard x220 flew that for a year, then bought a prebuilt Tom Smith rooster and flew that for another year. Then bought components for a new build, and my friend built it for me. All of it lol. Then I finally learnt (with supervision from friends), and now I'm ok at it haha

give a look at the Pinecil, it has the dc5525 port in back already and also a usb-c real PD port so you could also direct plug into a 65W usb charger. that is what I use, same low price.

At home I love my Weller WT1010 - but when I'm not home I always use the TS100 because I can also play Tetris on it

I don't have it yet, but I was willing to get the ts100 because of the protections it have (in case it gets left heating on the bench) and also for being fast on temperature control. The smart control of it's processor is very interesting. But as you said: this one is quite cheaper. That's a huge point to me because usd in Brazil becomes a lot of our money + monstrous taxes. Let's see. Thank you very much for your insight, great video! ❤️

My favourite soldering iron? I'm totally spoiled there, I work in electronics assembly! My iron of choice (ie, the one I'm paid to use) is a Metcal MX500, which is an excellent unit, superb ergonomics, heats near instantly, has a variety of alternate tools, and costs £500! Unfortunately, as I say, it's totally spoiled me, I just can't get comfortable with anything consumer grade now. A quick check on Ebay says second hand units are a bit more reasonable at around £150, and would probably be the last solder station you'd ever need to buy as long as in good condition, they can run eight hours a day, five days a week for years without any issues, except tip changes every now and then. Oh, and the replacement tips cost £35!

I'm 15 seconds in and i don't agree. I have a very very cheap soldering iron off ebay, was something like £12 for a SET! Since buying it I have successfully built 2 kwads and all my solder points look mint 👌 You need technique, not expensive things

People say that it draws 1.37 amperes no matter of the power supply voltage. So it have about 33w max power. Could you please check It's power consumption at 24 volts?

Oohh thanks for making this video always wondered that "those guys" was soldering with...looked like a European thing/geographical thing for me. yeah haven't seen those used in Asia. And stateside it seems that they only use the big soldering station that weights like a ton 😂

It's similar but not the same

Laptop power supplies are cheap and 19-20v and a 5225 barrel connector would suit this soldering iron just fine.

Jedna ważna sprawa dlaczego mogło Tobie nie działac a innym działało (mi też działa z zasilaczem z laptopa). Zasilacz musi byc DC a bardzo ciężko taki znaleźć większość zasilaczy do laptopów jest AC.

I think the ts100 is the best in this category 🤷🏻‍♂️.. Which by the way I still don't have it 😅

My ts100 worked like a champ until I plugged in a fully charged 6s and smoked the display. If you still works but... it’s a little poke and hope on the temperature.
