We had clear skies a few nights back on the Scottish coast - they're much rarer than in Kanab and in early August it's only really dark for an hour or so any way. Nice to see a revisit to Sequator. I haven't had great results with editing prior to stacking but I might give it another go with better data. I'm still struggling to find a good way to remove heavy light pollution from the horizon. I've tried synthetic flat frames, Gradient removal tools etc. but for milkyway shots those methods just seem to affect the natural look of the image too much.

Thanks for the tutorial. Easy to follow and to the point. l would struggle to be as lineal as you are in your presentation (even after edits 😅). lt may take a while, but l'll come back here once l do a test! 🤓😄

I usually find the result better to stack first, then edit.

That's what I do also just hate what Facebook dose to my photos is there a better way to upload them once stacked to Facebook where they won't lose so much quality?

awesome tutorial, i did it on the orion nebula, can't see much of it but it is there but after doing the stacking and comparing it is less noisy but a tiny bit more blurry on the stars. do you have a fix for this?

Hi Peter, thank you for this very useful video ! Do you believe the results are the same between those two workflows : (stacking RAW -> editing stacked TIFF) VS (editing RAW -> stacking TIFF -> editing stacked TIFF) ? In deepsky astrophotography stacking RAW is almost always the first step, as you're doing it the other way for this tutorial I'm wondering if there's a particular reason

I was wondering the exact same. Your results are excellent but processing before stacking is new to me, I haven’t seen others do this? Can you comment on the effectiveness of this, is this just your preference or proven bette4 results? Keep up the great content!

Thanks Peter I learned something important today .. if I may ask, I was watching your other video which you used photoshop to stack images from drone .. and sequator for Astro .. can I use photoshop to stack Astor images as well ? And can sequator remove noise from other tho of photography or only for Astro ? Thanks again

I realised I am completely boned while living in London. Light pollution in England is immense, I cannot see any dark sky areas. Tried a few shots around Leith Hill area, was nowhere as impressive as this

I am using a move shoot move and mostly take single exposures at about 2 to 3 minutes, I never stacked pictures but I want to improve the details in my exposures - can I use sequator to stack those images or do you recommend something else? Best wishes from Austria! Edit: I am kinda worried the programm can‘t align the pictures due to the long exposure and the distance the milkyway moves between the exposures on the horizon.

I use a tracker as well Christoph, I;ve been able to stack anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour worth of exposure with no issues when taking 2/3 minutes shots. Only thing I got caught out by before is that I didn't "reset" my horizon position after an hour and half of my frame was filled with the foreground. Since then, I set a timer and level the horizon every 10 minutes. The stacking software deals with this it without any issues.

Great video but what is Raya Pro? Is that part of photoshop or something you've added on?

Important to make sure that the TIFF versions of the files are saved UNCOMPRESSED. Sequator does not work well with compressed image files.

During your initial basic edits, you left the color noise reduction on its default values, usually this is too high and it affects the stars color, I always tame it down a little.

Great! But how do I reduce the size of the brush in this program?

Hi Peter, Wonder if you can help? When I go to use the irregular mask and paint select the sky I can't change the cursor size and as soon as I click to apply the mask my whole photo goes black. I've see one or two similar posts on the web but no answers. Thanks

I followed your workflow but hit a roadblock when I clicked start on Sequator and it threw and error saying unsupported format. I exported as TIFF using Lightroom CC with the same settings you had. Any idea on what I should do different?

Hmmm...Great video, easy to follow. It didn't work for me however. I saw no noticeable reduction in noise and when I included my dark noise frames it said "failed" after processing each frame. At this point, I see no benefit.

sRGB Color Space & 8bit. Are you joking. That was the moment I turned off the video! Already Adobe RGB can't compete with Pro Photo RGB. But sRGB is senseless as a working space. You can always downgrade later. Why to ruin your photos at the beginning. So many people will copy those bad advices about settings. Not very educational.
