So have you gone without ridx and found issues? It could be that your septic system just works really well and would still work without the additive. My parents never added anything and never had to pump their tank.

We had an issue of septic odor seeping out around worn wax toilet seals (apparently) and after using RidX the smell literally disappeared for a couple months. When we started noticing it again, we flushed another RidX packet and it worked again. How do you explain that if it doesn’t do anything???

This thing we don’t make money pumping septic systems out. If we wanted to we could sell additives and make money off it. We are going off published studies where hundreds of systems in different solids conditions got tested. Also going off what engineers that have masters, doctorate degrees in environmental/ civil engineering say. If it worked then we wouldn’t have to spend billions on water infrastructure for waste water treatment.

I say BS. For one, if companies didn't charge an arm left leg and both balls in cost for pumping septics, we all would be able to afford a septic pump. For two, when i met my wife and moved in together she was having septic backup each year. Started running Ridx through the septic and have not had a septic backup in 4 years. You can keep trying to promote your business or company you work for by saying it don't work when ive seen first hand how effective it works.

I'm going off multiple university studies that tested 100s of systems from new, cleaned a year ago two years ago, and so on. Also if this was true they would use it in wastewater plants. Every wastewater engineer will tell you and laugh if you ask them about this. If you watch the video they say on the box with regular cleanouts what does that mean.

They actually have genetically modified the bacteria to break down cellulose like toilet paper. Funny enough, Ridx is crap for septic tanks but works really well for RV's. It eats toilet paper and poop and turns everything into a liqued sludge that is super easy to flush out and clean, but it only works if it's vented well since it requires oxygen and movement and agitation to work correctly... Great for RV! BUT HORRIBLE for septic tank lolol

I've read basically what you talk about, that there's no benefit and additives are unneeded, but my bigger question is, are there any downsides or risks (other than cost) to using additives? For example, will using an additive potentially break down the solids too fast and the sludge (since too much buildup too quick) will carry over into the drainfield, clogging it up? Is that likely?

Great video. All of what you said is the truth. A good friend and neighbor kept telling me to add Rid-X (or any other septic additive) to my system. Both of our systems were installed within a year of each other. We both waited too long (15 yrs ) but recently had our systems pumped. He put in Rid-X every month. I rarely put any additive into my system and when I did - it was out of guilt. To be honest, I lead such a busy life and didn't think about the septic system. The day of reckoning came. HIs system developed a very thick amount of scum on top and his drain field was barely working. My system was working perfectly. His wife nearly cried because they were sold on the "snake oil" advertising.

@@harryharry3193 why? I thought that’s the whole point of a septic system? The way I understand it is bacteria breaks everything down and it goes out into the yard. I’m not saying I’m right. There isn’t a problem with flow or anything and the leach field is working cause the grass is growing like crazy in the middle of a drought. I think there were a lot less problems before social media and everyone posting problems making everyone else think they have problems. I also think people from the city who are use to city sewer come out to the country and think they can put the same things in a septic tank that they put down the city sewer and you can’t do that.

When i pumped tanks are there systems that where not that dirty yes. Did they use ridex no. We didn’t come to this conclusion out thin air either. The university studies that where done are very comprehensive. New systems, old systems, not pumped for 1,2,3,4,5,6 to 10 years. It was done over years. If this worked they would build billion dollar treatment plants for the municipalities.

Your math is interesting. A 3 month supply, 29 ounce box of Rid-X is $15.00, x 4, is about $65 annually. Let me know what company will pump a tank for $65. Note: I do not put grease or oils of any kind down my drain, not even butter or margarine if I can avoid it. I do not use my garbage disposal but instead dispose of all veritable matter, etc into the trash or compost pile. In fact, I do not even put toilet paper or paper of any kind down the drain. I do not allow bleach or other chemicals into the septic system. I try to avoid body and dish soap containing chemicals, surfactants, phosphates or other chemicals. I also try to avoid using to much water at one time so as not to dilute the ongoing, bio-chemical processes in the tank. I do occasionally add a single packet of brewers yeast, but that's about it. So far ,so good.

Sorry Man but YES they do as long as your PH is correct and water temperature is not cold. The pumping is now eight hundred to twelve hundred dollars for fifteen hundred gallons . most important is to purchase high quality products as they convert Nitrates into Nitrogen Gas therefor resulting in protecting ground water. During pandemic many people used sanitizers and disinfectants causing septic tanks to become sterile so it is very important to restart the biological system as nature designed it .

Just noticed the fact that one of the studies you cite says "There are special instances when the use of a biological additive may be warranted," and "the debate of the issue of using an additive can only be resolved through a cooperative research effort." It really wouldn't be hard to test the different additives efficiency in an extremely simplified controlled environment, on different items in an air tight container, with just water, and the additive. Definitely not the same as in a septic system, but still.

LMFAO, you can tell this guy makes his money off of pumping septic systems. First off enzymes are just like Yeast, they can stay stable for decades in a dry state. I know this because I brew beer and I use dry yeast which can last over 10 to 20 years in a dry state if not more. Second I have lived in two different houses with septic systems. The first one went over 40 years without having to be pumped and I sold the house also without being pumped. Our current house is going on 16 years without having to be pumped. I use septic treatment once a month and have had no issues with having to be pumped. There is no exception to this rule. As long as you're not putting baby wipes or flushable wipes down your septic and you are using septic treatment you should never have to have your septic system pumped. And just a quote this guy he is the one selling you snake oil by telling you to pump your system every few years. And last but not least all of my neighbors use septic tanks and we all do the same thing and have no issues. So unless you have roots in your septic tank or flushing wipes down use septic system treatment. You may only have to pump your septic system once in your entire lifetime.

We dont flush any disposables, no grease....and light on charmin toilet paper. 7 years. Today the guy came...and we got a clean out. Top looked great, but it did have alot of sludge at the bottom...and that looked to push up the filter/screen out of position to go to the fuji aeorobic system. crud got past there. Long -short... Get it pumped every 3-5 years. If not, you just might have to pay BIG BUX for a whole lot of work. its 300 to pump it.
