Susan, my husband and best friend of 44 years passed away 4 years ago. Losing him crushed my world and has left me completely isolated from world. You see, for 12 years I've lived in Ohio, in a log cabin, 500 feet back off a rarely traveled road. My county's population is 22 people per square mile. My closest neighbor is 1/2 mile away, and the closest Walmart (or any store) is a 45 mins away. I have no friends or family in this area. Although it's very beautiful and peaceful here in the forest, but it's also very lonely. Because of you, I've decided to sell my home in the spring and move back home. Home is 150 miles away but I'll finally be close to most of my grandchildren, one of my sons, my sister, brother and all of my wonderful friends. That life chancing decision came after watching you start all over, at our age, just so you can be close to your family. You're quite an inspiration to me, and all of us. Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us all.

I really can't hold back the tears reading your story....what a lovely amazing person you are...and the thought you are willing to pursue a new life is so inspiring! Isolation can be so exhausting for us as we get older. And at times dangerous.....and what I find is I feel 20 years younger since I am with my grandchildren. I have a new sense of belonging...and a new sense of making a difference in people's lives..in big ways and in small ways. I had no family in Grand Rapids and I felt so alone...I had friends but people as they age seem to isolate...I felt if I didn't take the leap now to pick up and move, I might never be able to do it. I had a lot of dread moving...I was scared. would I like my new city? Would they like me? Would I get lost? Would my family think I was intruding? The house I bought??? Will it be ok? All my fears were for nothing! I love my house, I love my city, and its so easy to make friends here in a small town...and then there is my family...and my grandchildren who want to see me as often as they can. I feel this is a miracle from God I landed here. But I was so scared...and if you ever feel scared, please write me...let me know how you are..you are going to love your life!!! Love to you and yours! Susan & Desi PS; And Desi got a new life too!!! King of the Back Yard!!!!!

Oh Susan, I know what you mean. I was at Target today and a couple was standing next to me in the aisle I was in. When he turned to the woman, he said, "hey honey, what do you think of this." My heart literally ached in that moment to be someone's girl that was called honey, or any endearing term.

We buried my sister yesterday. She lost her only daughter/child in 2016 & never recovered physically or emotionally . I made sure her last 4 months were as happy as she’d been in years. She’s now reunited with my niece & I am happy for her. But she’s left a significant hole in my heart. 😢

I’m 70 years old.. for many years I’ve mixed equal amounts , about a dime size, of castor oil and coconut oil, apply to hair, put on an old shower cap and leave it in for an hour, shampoo 3 times and use conditioner. Castor oil promotes hair growth, coconut oil moisturizes.

I lost 75% of my thick, curly hair when I got sick. The one thing I still had going for me-almost gone! Lol-I’m so glad I can laugh about it now:) I read up on what to use and it was organic black seed oil, organic rosemary and a few drops of organic peppermint oil along with organic coconut oil. Put it on after shampooing ur hair and wash out when you shampoo again-repeat:). My hairdresser said my hair came back with a vengeance!

You make my week. I can't wait to see your videos and I never know what topic you will discuss that is always so interesting. I think that your painting depicts a warm and loving moment. The way the woman is deep in thought, holding her heart and you can just imagine how she is feeling. The artist has captured this woman so beautifully along with her surroundings and the stream outside of her window. It makes you feel so relaxed to look at her. Thank you for highlighting her in today's video. Love to you and Desi.

One day dear Susan I hope you’ll do a turning the table on men’s fear of aging. So much greater than women’s. Stereotypes of red sports cars & younger women etc. Whilst we reconcile w/aging they defile us lest they face those realities we endure. The very same society & marketplace grant Them immunity. Having been surrounded by men, entire lifetime, this is a gross injustice. In the face of aging it’s men who’re truly, in the end, the weaker sex.

All these great fall clothes and it’s been in the 80’s here in Michigan. I’m not complaining as it will get cold soon enough. I had 5 grandchildren (2, 4, 6, 7 &7) this weekend two for 3 days. We went to a Homecoming parade, made their own pizzas, took a walk and collected Polk berries & dyed T shirts they painted their names on, painted Halloween decorations, collected wild grapes & made jam. Today is a birthday party and then sending them home so I can take a nap!

This is going to sound crazy, but when I was married, there was a night when I hadn’t shut the blinds in the living room yet, and a beautiful, white, dove-like bird with blue iridescent border (like neon) flew near the window and flapped for a few seconds before flying off. It seemed like it was looking at us! I shouted to my husband sitting next to me, “Did you see that?!” He said he did, and we both started to google what we just saw. Haha! Well, we didn’t find anything online that would give it justice. I think it was the Holy Spirit in physical form, but God only knows. 🕊😊

Everyone says to me, "You are so independent!" So many my age have moved into nursing homes or assisted living. I'm living on my beautiful lake in the piney woods, and I'm doing fine. About your painting...it represents to me a time past. I don't get a letter anymore. Do you? It's all emails. It was lovely seeing a friend or loved ones handwriting. I miss it.

Could it be that YOU, Susan, are love's messenger. : ) We here hold the message from you in our hearts from one week to the next. I'm sad you were concerned about thinning hair. I get it... I've lived a lifetime feeling not enough for this or that. There's a Marilyn Monroe quote I first found in the context of a Nike ad. It's a bit long, but here it is for all of us who are becoming stronger together: A WOMAN IS OFTEN MEASURED by the things she cannot control. She is measured by the way her body curves or doesn't curve. By where she is flat or straight or round. She is measured by 36-24-36 and inches and ages and numbers. By all the outside things that don't ever add up to who she is on the inside. And so if a woman is to be measured, let her be measured by the things she CAN control. By who she is and who she is trying to become. Because as every woman knows, measurements are only statistics and STATISTICS LIE.

Loved watching and listening to another of your powerful "sharings" of things in your life with a bunch of us other "seasoned ladies". You are a beautiful human being, outside and inside! I love your clothes styles, your decorating abilities, your eye for and love of colors and balance, and your love of feminine and graceful things surrounding you in your sweet home. I so enjoy your comments and ideas and sharing your thoughts with us. Sometimes you make me smile and even laugh, and sometimes your stories make me cry as they touch on a memory of my own. I'm mostly considered a "tough broad" for most of my life but there's always that little hurt 5 year old girl inside of me that I always strive to protect that pops up at times. I'm glad you're there doing what you do, and you are very good at it I might add, and just know that lots of us admire you and count on you and are out here walking with you and watching you as we age too. Wishing you more of life's blessings as you continue to "settle in" to your sweet home, and good health for you and that guy of yours "Lil Desi"! What a debonaire gentleman he is. God Bless You and Know That You are Loved and Appreciated -

I lost my border collie in February. Monday I lost my little blessing dog like Desi is to you. Rory smiled when he saw me, he wagged his little stump of a tail, he loved everyone. His only trick was flailing on command. It's weird, but he did it. I feel...so bone deep lonely. I feel the kind of emptiness that an amusement park has when it's closed for the season. Thanks Susan for being here, for being a constant and being a friend. Love to you and Desi.

Yes, I think we are offered many opportunities to connect to our inner being (our souls). The wisdom that seeps in gets absorbed and rubs off on those close to us. This has been especially true for me with younger women in my own family who are yearning to grow and glow. Embrace your inner beauty. It is a blessing that continues to give over and over again.

Hi Susan, hi everyone, loved the video. You’re looking exceptionally well Susan. Thanks for sharing your products etc with us. Sadly, I can’t get any of them. I tried to get the perfume Macaron Rose - I fancied the perfume and the macaron rose perfume oil, put it in my trolley and when it came to shipping - 😢 they don’t ship to Northern Ireland. I’m so disappointed. Your home is lovely Susan, you inspire me. Have to say Desi looks like he’s really enjoys the garden, he’s such a cutie. He looked so cosy sleeping beside you. I’m going to try and get the lipstick you mentioned, it looks fabulous. I don’t get out and about much, health reasons. It means I rely pretty much of the internet. I love the painting in your bedroom, I have a print similar to it and I love it. I don’t know the name of the picture, it’s by John William Waterhouse - it’s a woman with red hair, standing in a courtyard smelling a rose - there’s just something about it that draws me in. I love your channel Susan - it’s like ‘all girls together’ if you know what I mean. I get a lot from it and from the commenters too. Have a great week everyone. ❤

Dear Susan, Re: In your videos… Would you believe that I did not once notice that you were anything but beautiful. You always have the softest and sweetest look on your face in your videos. You knew your hair and neck were different than you wanted, but I’m not sure any of us knew it.🤩 About the painting… I lost my husband of 47 years very suddenly in January of ‘22 and that very night God spoke to my heart and said, “Your covenant has been fulfilled, but now I have other plans for you.” The next thing I heard was, “You may choose to reject the world’s label and idea of widowhood.” From that night, forward, I have focused on those two things [no matter how many tears I cry or how much pain my heart feels]. I focus on knowing I have a future that I need to show up for, and that I am being given an opportunity to become someone new if I want to. I’m busy exploring new beginnings and opportunities, sometimes when I don’t really feel like it [because it’s easier to settle into the grief]. Each time I make the better choice, I know my precious love in Heaven is cheering me on! I’m always waiting for a new direction or message - it keeps me looking forward to the future and not back to the past. It keeps my precious memories framed with appreciation instead of sadness (which I work at - ‘ain’t nothing easy ’bout grief). Your videos are making a difference. 💔-❤️‍🩹-❤️-💖-💝!

Love your favorites, especially the ankle boots. So do I feel like a woman waiting for something. Good heavens, yes. Sometimes I find myself still wondering what I'll bee when I grow up. At 66, that makes me laugh. Some day I feel like I'm just hanging out, waiting to check out of this life. I don't mean it to sound morbid, and I'm certainly not rushing it, but I know I have fewer days in front of me than behind me. Mostly, though, I'm waiting only to see what the day brings. I'm truly taking things a day at a time and I've learned it helps my stress level. I can handle anything for 24 hours, right?

Regarding the painting - for me it's a number of things. At first it's the beautiful rich colors (which make me think this is in winter and possibly Christmas time) and the subjects that are light in color. There is a also calmness - the woman is patiently feeding the bird, there is a serene vista outside the window which I love (water is healing). Then there is the detail - the windows with their circular cut pattern, the feathers on the bird, the outfit she is wearing, the ripples in the water, etc. I am actually not certain that she just received the love letter or is sending it, but that doesn't really matter. She obviously comes from wealth and they had a hard time relating their heart feelings because of social conventions at that time, and so needed to resort to carrier birds and such. It's also different to many other pictures that show a pastoral scene in the distance. There is much to enjoy.

Hi Susan, I have been watching you now for 3-1/2 yrs., and everyone one of your videos inspire me to try and get through the day, as I have a verbally abusive husband, and everything is my fault for the things he does. I love your videos, that talk about being older or like I tell myself, that I am seasoned as turning 70 years old in August this year, I found myself looking harder to doing something for myself and wanting to remove myself from the abuse. It seems that when I look for a job or find something that I can do, the situation becomes unbearable for me. So, I spend my days in my journal, drawing pictures of what type of a home I would like to have and how to fix my furniture around the home, and so when you come on and show your home, I just think I could do something like this when I get away from his situation, as I wait until I can save secretly. I don't have much money to move, so as he became ill last August, he has gone downhill, but he just will not give up, and still working at the age of 74. He barely is able to walk normal anymore, and I believe God is showing me to be kinder to those that destroy themselves. So that is what I have done is be kinder to him, as I fix him things to eat, to make his life a little better and that is making him less cruel to me. Thank you for your messages to those that are in need of uplifting their spirits. And for all the cosmetic products that you promote, I want to tell you that I haven't had anything on my face since I was 15 years old, as I felt unnatural with the heaviness of products on my face, and when I am out an about, some people look at me, when I tell them I'm 70, they can't believe it. So, I wish you and Desey, a wonderful week, and I can't wait until next week. Oh, I do love your home and I know one day, I will be just as happy as you are. I think being alone is one of the factors, I can't wait to get there. I have spent all my life in relationships that was full of abuse, and now God is helping me to make the next few years durable until the day I am alone and be able to see and do things I have never been able to do for myself. Love you, PM

Hi Susan. So lovely to meet with you again. You look so wonderful on your own little front steps and Desi was looking particularly great this week. I think it is important not to give up hope in any way for anything. Despite losses. I lost one of my dearest friends recently. I do miss her yet I know that the memory of our friendship will help me be a better person. For hopes, I do have a life partner but it's not a perfect relationship. That is where my hope is to make it better and better. And my partner is responsive but quite traditional. I think it is okay for older women to hope for a life partner and to look for a life partner! I know our society pushes for youthful appearances, etc. And we try to look our best. At the same time as you have said, it's important to accept ourselves the way we are. Somebody will see the light in a person. There is beauty in everyone. I think you give a lot of your listeners hope because you offer new ways to think about things and about ourselves. And that's very healthy. I have a lavender and white bedroom at the moment myself by the way, but yours looks a lot nicer! I'm in a small New York apartment and I try to beautify it but I have too much especially books. I am still working too. No complaints on this end but it's so nice to visit with you in Michigan from here in New York every week. I look forward to it too as many of the subscribers comment. I am so happy that there are more than 100,000 members! Thank you again I look forward to it every week.

Fun products! Fabulous content... hits 'home' - my journey seems to be somewhere in the weeds - life's hills and valleys have got me in my own fog - I know all will sort out the way it is suppose to - we live in such times where its hard to trust... for me - hard to trust anyone. So, I spend part of my time watching and listening to others, and hoping to find the next path that may take me out of the fog. The painting is beautiful, elegant - a timeless moment of not needing to know - I miss those days.

Appreciate your honesty. That means, to me, not feeling pressured into facile positivity. Being an aged woman in a society that worships youth & elevates “older men” who “just get better” is truly difficult. Thank you for not prettying up these challenges we face. Studies of POW’s have shown the optimists “suffer the reality of their situation more” bc their hoped for rescue betrays them. The more reality based, so called pessimists are more likely to endure the rigors and survive bc they’re aware “rescue” is illusory. In our society aging is a crime. A crime w/no escape. I prefer to have my rescue dogs. Get up every day w/purpose & hope some cashier will acknowledge my my old woman existence. Not bleak. Acceptance. Age obsessed America. I’m ok.

@@blakesleyk.7166 At age 84, I have come to that blessed point where I can (most of the time) let go of what others think about age. Age obsession (evident in North America) is tied to fear of change and of death. I remind myself that "other people think differently" , and most of the time shrug off others' comments about age and appearance. What really counts is making the most of what one has, to fit one's own vision and standards. If you truly like yourself, the people that are snarky can, as the old Irish dismissal says, " Go away off and chase yourself!" (much more refined then "F.U.!")

Susan, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work and effort in making all your videos. You are a special special lady. Your "poetic" insight, personal ethics, and intuition into the hearts of women are a gift to everyone you touch. You remain a constant in my life...I too own my own home...the home of my childhood. I am a basically a shut in. Knocked off the planet with Lupus and an unfortunate rather dramatic fall down the stairs of my 1800 hundreds historic house in a small picturesque village in VT. I just turned 68 on September 3rd. I too miss my mother. She lived in this house by herself after my father passed away in 1990 (when my son was only two months old; their only grandchild). She was a woman of great strength and Italian tenacity. I assisted her through her passing right here in this very house as I had promised her I would. The pain has turned into comfort and each day I live here surrounded by her beautiful collections I am reminded of all she did and sacrificed as a woman and as a mother. Also, thank you for sharing your product information today. At our age we need good products, right? I trust your judgement. I am in bed today, as is so often the case (I also have a rare genetic disorder called hypocomplemtemic urticarial vasculitis....long name NOT amazing results...there is an ad this relates to isn't there?) and just watched your video...now what? Well, I will just watch it again. 🙂

The painting is about the book Im writing. I'll make a note to get one to you when it's complete. It's been gathering dust a while, as I linger on hospice telling myself I am not enough and dont have enough left in me to finish it. However, your painting, as well as many of your words in the video tell me a different ending to the story. We are all sweet, tender little doves, who from time to time need to be reminded to flutter until we can fly again! Love to beautiful, inspiring you, to your bestie Desie, and your beautiful inspiring painting!

After a difficult 20-year marriage and an even more difficult 2-year relationship, my message came from an online pen pal who had been writing me--platonically--for more than 6 months. We lived 1200 miles apart--but that changed. We have been together for 24 years, going on forever. We are growing old together in the Arkansas hills, surrounded by a forest of oaks, our four cats, and the peace of being in the right place with the right person, at last.

Susan, hello from England, just started to watch your videos, i think we are the same age, i will be 70yrs in new years day 2024. Did Bill leave you because he didn't want you to see him unwell !!? My husband passed away beside me on 15th January 2023 after looking after him on my own for four years and since then i have hardly done anything apart from lying on my bed watching KZread. My rescue husky from the streets abroad passed in 2020 , i don't have parents, children or brothers and sisters and although im alone, I'm not lonely and look after a neighbours little dog when she goes out. I absolutely adore your little Desi and the love you have for him and I've learnt much from watching videos like yours which is far better that going to therapy for me. Being around pretty things in the home and nature can be such an uplift which i should start doing soon. I cannot get over that company not wanting to use Desi because of his "overbite" and something else. What a big mistake, he's soooò adooooorable x all i can say is their complete loss. Xxx

Susan, I just love how Desi listens to you talking and it would seem that he’d like to say some thing but he doesn’t know how and he’s just kind of has his funny blink but he’s just continually listening is so adorable. I am looking for something in others and it is the love of God that has seem to have left many people and including people in my own family mainly my mother and my grown son and daughter. I am faced with a health crisis and it may be really hard to deal with with therapy and stuff and I know that I am gonna have to deal with it alone. I also need to move immediately back to Michigan, Marquette Marquette, yet I wanted a house versus senior low income housing. So I have experienced many many losses and I am grieving somewhat intractably, so I may be seeking a counselor. But being so isolated in the middle of Minnesota with strangers who are 15 years older than me and just waiting to die I have to get out of here so that I don’t die here too. I have made a couple of friends but they seem to be not as close as friends that I have made when I was younger. All my friends that I had while I was raising my kids have scattered and we have scattered too. I want to get my van fixed so I can travel around and visit my friends to see if they still care about me and know that I care about them too.

My Mother was a great letter writer. She corresponded with a few friends over 50 years. Decades ago she started logging Xmas letters. And had categories for: hand written letter, hand written note, short note, printed mass generated annual update, obligatory signature or preprinted signature. A veritable spreadsheet in longhand. Colorcoded. Hahahaha. She got fed up writing a 1 or 2 page letter and getting a simple: "Sending love. Hope your Xmas is blessed!",etc.

This is so much more healthier for your hair and it will naturally thicken up throughout the months with great trims in between when needed as well. All-over color is really hard on one's hair and dries it out drastically!!! Lastly, IT WILL BE A BETTER COMPLIMENT TOWARDS YOUR LOVELY COMPLEXION AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL EYES WILL POP AS WELL!!! Now my hair is all grown out, several inches past my shoulders...and it has the most wonderful natural softness...soft as a baby's hair. I don't have to do anything to it. Hi Susan, I’ve seen that painting on so many of your videos and at a distance I kept thinking it looked a lot like Lady Diana, but on seeing it up close I guess that’s just what my mind was seeing. It does kind of remind me still of lady Diana, the background looks a lot like Althorp where she is buried. It seemed like she found Love but I wonder if she ever found peace. I think we all hope for peace in our lives and love even if it isn’t in the form we hope for or thought it would look like. Thanks for sharing with us good to see you having fun with your grandchildren and Desi. 💕
