The thing about his singing: He always sounds like he means it. Whatever the words are, he brings them alive.

I know I’m not the only person to request that all of his covers be put on Spotify. All the covers I’ve heard, Tommy has stayed true to the original. The only difference is that, Tommy blows the original out the water. I’ll say it again and again. His voice is absolutely magical.

Agreed! For the last 30+ years I I have always believed that Steve was the voice of Journey and nobody could ever replace him but now think Tommy really could! Tommy…you did this song proud!

Journey’s iconic songs are the type that if you don’t get it all right, it will fail. This was very well done.

You don't make covers. You upgrade. What I love the most is the pure comfort of knowing that everything you wave your wand at turns out magical. And always with the best possible respect you can show the original - using your talent to make something already great greater.

@@dereklaing2929 I'd say this one's at least in par with the original, being maybe the most original-like of his interpretations. Of course it's a matter of taste, but I like Tommy's voice better. Also, the overall sound picture.

🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Well, I was fairly certain Tommy would do an excellent job with the cover; but I was NOT prepared for what an AMAZING treatment he gave the original song. His signature voice simply SHINES in this version and he does great respect to Steve Perry here. I even love the subtle and the not-so-subtle changes he made here and there. The guitar solo was a very unexpected and surprisingly welcome addition. Chalk up yet ANOTHER marvelous classic cover for Maestro Johannson.

This song and Perry's voice has always been one of my favorites, well the song is still the same but the favorite singer has changed 💥 I ❤ your voice! Besides your cutest smile and humor, the twinkle in your eyes, saves even a bad(hair) day 🤩 Sing Tommy sing .. ja Kiitos 🎼❤🎼

My god, you absolutely nailed it. Finally, someone who realises that if you're covering Journey, you commit to it and hit the damn notes properly! 900% better than the godawful cover I've been hearing on the radio lately. I think this is even better than the original...

I've already had time to research all his bands, I from finland, So we're in his neighboring coyntry, I also read his interviews in finnish metal magazines, he is also great at adapting. his singing style to fit the spirit of the times, his technique is amazing and he can sing really powerfully if the song calls for it, he probably produces sounds over 4 oktaves. I'm super glad I found her

I'm a new Sabaton recruit and just recently saw you in Salt Lake City for the first time. I was introduced to you by my nephew whose dad (my brother-in-law) is a Lt. Colonel in the US Army. I love the back-up singing in Sabaton. I tell people you are like a heavy-metal mens choir. During your show, I was blindsided by you singing "Highway to Hell". What? That was awesome! He could be the lead singer of his own band! Little did I know that you already are. Then, yesterday, I was watching an interview with Hannes (I'm also a fan of Floor Jansen and Nightwish) where he referenced you doing something with Disney. Steve Perry has always been my favorite vocalist of all time. There was nobody like him in the 70's/80's. But Tommy here in 2024, I believe you have taken over his spot. You have the voice, the emotion and passion just like Steve had. You also display that emotion and passion with your guitar. I am so very happy to have come across your videos. You can sing any genre and sound as though the songs were written for you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent. I'm hooked❣️

I've seen Sabaton a few times in concert and I've always loved Tommy's enthusiasm and happiness when playing, but I honestly had no idea he was THIS talented, with the ability to sing and play guitar and piano. A true amazing talent.

Okay, We ALL know Tommy usually SLAYS with every single cover he does, so this is all but guaranteed to be no exception. But, I'm going to reserve judgement until the premiere when he is probably going to blow our collective minds and MELT OUR FREAKING FACES OFF!!!!! This is going to be a tricky one; a LOT of bands have covered this song recently; some have absolutely KILLED IT (looking at YOU Eva Under Fire....) and some have not done it the proper justice it deserves. We get it, it's JOURNEY! Probably one of the most iconic songs of the last 40 or so years. Tommy is a seasoned professional, so I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that he is going to completely CRUSH this one. Can't wait till tomorrow morning......

I think Arnel Pineda did an amazing job bringing back Journey to the world. I personally prefer Tommys coverversion, but Sweden is filled with amazing rock singers.
