Watching this brings tears to my eyes because also I had to say farewell to my pet! It wasn't a dog but a crested duck. Her name was Pipke. She lived to be the same age as your Tika. What a great job you've done. You can see that she enjoyed life. Cherish the beautiful memories. Thanks for sharing! 💗

@@coldinyk Hey Tawna, thank you for your kind comment. I too had a closer relationship with my pet duck Pipke than with any human being. Once James Herriot wrote the following quote: 'If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ...' - I’m busy reading your full story about Tika! Not only how you wrote down your experiences, but also the entire layout of Tika's story is poignantly beautiful. (Thank you very much for the link.) The way you describe it in part two: (eight months have past since Tika crossed the Rainbow Bridge), that’s how i experienced it too Tawna. It’s like you wrote! Preparing for your pets departure, the emotional toll is incredible and heartbreaking We too had to make the decision where we feared for so long, we had to put her down. It broke my heart. Every time l see ur Tikas videos it cuts me to the core of the love and devotion that u had for her ❤❤ what a beautiful girl and what an amazing mum u were to her, l just wish all doggies could live forever especially gsd's. My heart goes out to u in this unbearable loss of TIKA 😪😪😪

Thank you for your kind words. I'm approaching a very tender time that I will always relive every year as spring approaches... As we get closer to the 3-week countdown (that was the timeframe we gave ourselves back in 2021), I know I'll be revisiting those photos and memories. From the moment that she passed, I have never felt Tika's absence. Her beautiful spirit envelopes my life always and everywhere....our relationship carries on, I acknowledge her throughout the day, and I even talk to my new dog Hiccup about her Angel sister! Thank you kindly. I know this is super hard to go through, but as I've commented in other videos, and especially on my 2 blog posts (I highly encourage you to go visit them if you haven't already), going through what I did - it was life changing and I'm so grateful for the experience and the love we share. That bond and relationship will never ever be broken. My experience with grief was very raw, deep, and beautiful, and it has taught me life lessons. I hope you can have a similar experience, as it will give you comfort knowing that your dog's spirit is with you forever. Best wishes to you both

She's a beautiful Shepherd and looks to be so active with her doggie wheelchair ❤ We lost our 12 1/2 year old Shepherd Lucca to right sided heart failure last year.

Loved the video. I've got beautiful 8YO GSD who has this awful disease. She has lost most of her ability to stand or walk without help from me, or just drags when she walks. She still is my same dog, loving, and too loves the squeaky Kong Ball. We will keep going as long as I can tell she still wants to play and live. The good thing about this is she is not in pain. I know the disease is progressive, so when she can't move at all, and when things start failing I will do the right thing for my best friend, I love you my sweet INDY! Thanks for sharing the video brought tears to my eyes, you are a wonderful mom!!!! Mark

Merci pour votre vidéo, nous avons perdu notre Junior à 14ans et 3mois. Il avait des becs de perroquet sur la colonne vertébrale et se déplaçait plus vraiment. On a attendu trop longtemps avant de lui proposer un chariot. Votre vidéo montre à quel point il faut accompagner notre âme sœur jusqu'au bout dans les meilleures conditions, sans se soucier du regard des autres (chien handicap avec un fauteuil). Lui ne demande qu'à être aimé et recevoir de l'amour... Nous avons eu beaucoup de peine quand il est parti (cancer détecté trop tard). Nous le retrouverons plus tard, et nous pourrons partager avec lui le bonheur à l'infini

Merci beaucoup! Tika's story has been helping people and pets through their own challenging situations, and this is a big part of her legacy. Through those 2.5 years of the disease, as difficult and heart-wrenching as it was, it was truly a life-changing experience, taught me so much about love and grief, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to endure this with my baby girl, and for all the life lessons that came about. I love u lady mom! There's NO other breed that can be little lone compare to a GSD.. and the love u give her warms my heart like a big hairy heating blanket ... She looks happy and like she has quite the quality of life ... And the fact that u didn't give up on her or euthanize shed be just too much time and trouble speak volumes and VOLUMES TO ur love ment dedication... It speaks to who YOU ARE LADY MOM @ UR VERY CORE! AND OMG I AM BALLING LIKE A BABY.... 😭🙏. .LOST MY BOY 5-26-21... HE WAS 13 AND I BELIEVE HE HAD DEGENERATIVE MYELOPATHY I'LL NEVER BE THE SAME EVER AND I'LL MISS HIM FOREVER... HE WAS MY SECOND GERMAN SHEPHERD BUT I ALWAYS SAY THEY ALL LIKE POTATO CHIPS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HAVE JUST ONE SURE YOU CAN HAVE ONE AT A TIME BUT AFTER YOU HAVE ONE YOU CANNOT BE WITHOUT ONE BECAUSE THEY FEEL THE CREVICES OF THE DARKNESS IN YOUR LIFE THEY INTO THE CRACKS OF YOUR SOUL THEY CONNECT WITH YOU ON LEVELS THAT NO OTHER DOG CAN OR WOULD OR WOULD WANT TO AND THEY NEVER PUT IT DOWN YOU ARE THEIRS FOR LIFE AND OH MY GOD I JUST WANT THE SAY THANK YOU! So... this means I often see the comments so much later. :( Our fur babies crossed the bridge just days from one another. They surely are in a wonderful place, and I know that Tika is with me every single day. She has never, ever left me and I am comforted knowing this. . Very similar to my German Shepherd. Stick in the mouth, love to swim, chase snow that I kicked into the air. Jump in my bed and wait for me to scratch her belly. I miss her a lot.🐕‍🦺
