Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share an unboxing video of my new dress and coat from Selkie. These items are from the Selkie x The Last Unicorn Collaboration.
In this video I will be trying on the:
The Last Unicorn Pastels Day Dress in size M
The Last Unicorn Pastels Puff Jacket in size M
In the first portion of my video, I share my thoughts about shopping with Selkie. I discuss their lack luster communication and customer service. I also show a few photos comparing my items to the flat images Selkie used to advertise these dresses during the Pre-order. I was a little miffed that the print on each fabric is enlarged.
Afterwards, I talk about the shipping for my items and unpack them! Finally, I try both garments on and give my final thoughts.
Overall, I think both of the dress and coat are quite nice. The dress is very fitted and snug, but flattering. I also like the heavy cotton used to make the dress. The puff jacket is very oversized. I am happy with the oversized fit, but you may want to consider sizing down.

I will say as far as I know Kim(the founder of Selkie) does all the graphic design herself she is not a graphic designer she is also looking to hire someone for that job.
The pastel day dress looks really nice! I like the colors. Would you say it fits true to size? Or did you have to size up or down? Thx.

It’s pretty true to size, but quite fitted through the waist. The cotton fabric does have a tiny bit of give to it, but if you don’t like a very fitted waist it might be better to size up. I got a large in the green colorway and think it fits a bit more comfy for daily wear, especially if having a nice big dinner. But M is fine and I think overall pretty in line with the measurements from the size chart.
Thank you for these videos. I’ve been dreaming of the Marie dress for a while since I missed the pre-order, but seeing how bad the print placement is and how the unicorn is so hard to see… 😬 I think I’ll just buy that Kate Spade retail red heart shaped bag I’ve been eyeing instead at these price points.😅 Their customer service sounds horrendous.😰

The customer service is wildly bad too, and some people have received wrong items, and damaged items. Of course if you love an item go for it, and they have added some photos of the actual item to the site. I just saying be cautious when shopping selkie. 😬
Is the jacket very hot / for winter? Could you also wear it in the summer?

Personally I wouldn’t wear it in summer, but it is pretty lightweight. It does have a little fluff too it. I’d say I’d an in between coat. Too light for winter and too much for summer. Better for spring / fall.
I would not be happy with the difference in scale of the print either
