    Hello bud, like Derek has said you need to force the calliper pistons back when you put the new pads in so the calliper will go over the disc, you might need to take the reservoir cap off so the pressure can release behind the pistons. Another great Rob story bud hope you get the bike sorted quickly take care 👍

    @@2wheeledwillie395 Before you push the pistons back, give them a good cleaning with brake cleaner and a toothbrush. You want to get the road grime //brake crud off the outside of the pistons.. it's a good idea to push them out a bit more (by applying the brake!) before you do this - but be careful not to push too hard or they will fall out. It would make a good video though 🤣

    Hello there, Willie. I've enjoyed watching your videos. When you laugh, you make me laugh! I too have a T120, and I also try to do as much mechanical work as I can. But my mechanical skills are also wanting, and often I get myself in situations like the one you're in now. Good to know I'm not the only one who struggles in this regard. But, like you, I want to learn and improve my mechanical skills. Hey, and I'm mean this as a compliment, has anyone every said you look like Pete Townshend?

    It sounds to me like you didn't retract the piston completely in the caliper. The caliper should have just dropped on with the new pads in. Did you crack the bleed nipple and push the piston all the way back into the caliper?

    @2wheeledwillie395 if you didn't crack the bleed nipple to release the pressure it would have just pushed the piston back out.

  • @dungspreader
    @dungspreader2 ай бұрын

    If the pistons are fully retracted into the calipers and the pads aren't in there crooked , then there is the possibility that you have misplaced or left out an axle spacer . Or have the caliper slightly kittywonkus . ( that's a technical term that mechanical geniuses use ). Anyways , you could always pull out the pads. Tie the brake lever up and ride , just using the front brake . But I never said that and would never and have never done that - much . It's obvious that you don't have the F Dobbs Liber Labia , for your tool(s). It's very useful and when you've finished with it , you can tie it somewhere on your bike. Which is nice . Designed by an expert . Guaranteed not to fall off . Ever . Probably .

    Even drunk on cider and whisky I knew exactly what was coming! You have to hide the evidence if you're going to commit culinary fraud! In regards to working on your own bike, or any machine for that matter, there's no shame in not being able to do the job yourself, especially on more complex modern machines. Not everyone is mechanically inclined, it's literally why we have professional mechanics. I hope you find a solution quick, otherwise I can ride down to you and so a botch-job jerry rig solution 😂. • @Jagshemasher

    @Jagshemasher

    2 ай бұрын

    @@2wheeledwillie395 - for sure when you’re changing brake pads you need to open up the reservoir and suck some of the fluid down because as the brake pads wear the pistons move towards the brake disc and you need to add fluid to keep the correct level conversely when you put new pads in you need to remove some fluid because you have to push the pistons back to the calliper body to accommodate the extra width of the new pads. If you don’t do that, the pads will rub against the desk. In fact, I’m surprised you even managed to get them in at all. Changing the pads themselves is normally a very quick job once the callipers are off - like 5 minutes max. It’s a good idea to flush the brake lines with new fluid at the same time you do the job because again, done right that’s a 5 to 10 minute job.
