I've had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer, and chose not to "reconstruct" due to the advanced stage of the cancer. I was recently called "them," by an "well meaning" lgbt person. I didn't like it, but I let it go because I was just buying groceries and having a nice day. What is the big deal? (Unlike that phony and weak man, I have actually had a knife cutting away flesh near my heart, but I don't see myself as a victim.) 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I just stared at him rather sternly until he said “…and you don’t care.” “No sir, I don’t care. Get your reports done and turned in before end of day.” He actually became a good employee after that

I was a secondary school teacher for 26 years. Last year I called a 15 year old girl "HER" once, only once. They opened up an investigation, I hired a lawyer, since this wasn't a judicial case but a disciplinary action within the school board I was found guilty. Unbeknownst to me was the fact that they (the school board) could find me guilty despite the evidence I presented. My lawyer knew this all along but only told me a month before I received the decision so that during the 7 month duration of the case he could continue to charge me. I'm 56 years old and I left teaching because I refuse to disregard objective reality. We NEED TO UNITE, TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THEIR LIVES DESTROYED BECAUSE SOMEONE FEELS OFFENDED.

Agreed, but fear not - the most priceless stuff is either encased in security glass or (like the Mona Lisa) is in fact a replica, since the original is deemed too valuable to be placed in public. Also, they unfortunately can't afford any court-ordered charges for restoration, as they almost certainly don't have jobs, so unless mummy and daddy fund their farcical lifestyles, the cost would fall on (guess who) the taxpayer. The waiter was polite and even apologised about it, but I am sure the entire fucking restaurant will be labelled as "transphobic" now. And to the point of being polite. I really don't think it is polite mandating other people remember some completely arbitrary stats about you, especially in a place like restaurant, where the interaction is temporary by definition. It comes from the same bucket as "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM???" or similar extremely self-centred behaviour.

As an Asian male, I had quite delicate, almost feminine facial features when I was younger. I also preferred to keep my hair at medium length. There were times when service worker would mistake me for a woman and address me as 'ma'am'. I always took it in stride and found it amusing rather than offensive, because I had a firm sense of my own masculinity and didn't need external affirmation of my gender identity.

it's not disrespectful if its instinctive. you see the waiters in all occassions were talking naturally. besides, in some cases, he said his pronouns were she/her, which has nothing to do with "sir". But that's besides the point. Pronouns are supposed to be a non-topic. But saying that misgendering is 'stab in the heart' is exactly why he is a narcisist. Freud, in his lectures did say that homosexuality is connected to narcisism. Although he said it briefly, I think with modern evidence, he was spot on.

In the Philippines, we dont have a concept of he/she as pronouns. We always use "they" thats why since Eng is not our main language, we often mix He/She. I have never had any complaints from people when I mixed these two. I guess people like that Lady/Guy (debatable) would definitely have a problem and would get us canceled.

Technically there is. As a woman, I have had people call me "sir" before on accident. When I wear my hair down, it softens my face and there is no mistaking what I am, but when I pull it back, my features are strong, not softly pretty, so at a glance, I am not traditionally feminine through the face. So I have had people more than once just call me "sir" at a glance when I simply throw my hair up instead of taking the time to wear it down. Of course, I am not so personally affronted by things that I make a big deal out of it. Mistakes get made, and I know I'm not a glamor queen.
