This song was originally written for the '80s group The Jets back in 1989 but they decided they didn't want to use it, so the writer held onto the song for almost 6 years until it was presented to Selena who decided to record it. Recording of the song began March 5, 1995, she was killed just 26 days later.

God at 23 years old. What a horrible sad story. Such a wonderful artist/person. She used to give free concerts for her fans etc, she was such a mature grown woman wise beyond her years.

Latinos made Selena famous, but I think EVERYBODY would have eventually loved her. She was producing her first English álbum when she was killed. If that hadn’t happened, she would have become the most successful Latin celebrity. Her success would have been like Shakira’s and Jlo’s, but combined.

Bro. Selena was THAT girl. She had and still has a monumental impact on not just Latinx music, culture and fashion, but the music industry as a whole and like Aaliyah, shes left behind and incomparable legacy. Her live performances are just one example of her greatness. She has fans in Beyonce (who actually met Selena when Bey was a child), Mariah, Gaga, Drake and so many other huge artists - the world adores her. She was transitioning into the English market (after years of dominating the Latin charts) around the time she passed and her posthumous album to this day is one of my all time favorite bodies of work. George W Bush even declared April 16th (her bday) 'Selena Quintanilla day' just two weeks after she passed. Watch some of her acoustic stuff on youtube - it's nothing short of mesmerising and captivating to watch. also throw in a couple Selena documentaries to watch late night - I promise you you'll be the biggest fan in no time!

Selena was murdered while she was in the middle of recording her debut English album "Dreaming Of You". The video for the title song was made after her death. But of all her videos, this one looks the most biographical. In 1992, Selena secretly married her husband Chris Perez against her father's wishes. In this video, the girl secretly runs off with her boyfriend against her father's wishes. It's a beautiful song and the rest of the album is great.

OMG, you reacted to Selena!! For the latino community, she is legendary. Especially here in Texas and New Mexico. In the movie made about her life, this song plays when she dies. I can almost never really listen to this song without heartache.

You may know by now but that was just a random actress in the vid. This storyline was actually somewhat based on SELENA and Chris and their elopement in the red car. It's in the movie if you remember. Also I suggest you read Chris's book 'To Selena With Love'. It's a great romantic book that talks about their life and ups and downs together as a married couple. I think you will enjoy it and cry at the end as anyone who enjoyed her would. While SELENA was recording this song at the studio she called Cheis to stop over and hear it bc it reminded SELENA of themselves.However Chris couldn't make it to the studio bc he was in the midst of working with a band SELENA'S Father Abraham had hired Chris to work with. Chris says he always regretted not going to hear SELENA sing this song. After her passing Chris couldn't listen to 'Dreaming of You' for a long time. Anyway, thanks so.much. 💝😘🎈

I think it was shot shortly after her death. She didn't even get to do a video. So they showed pics & stuff of her. I'm curious what the video would have been like had she got to do it. This song was my introduction to Selena. I didnt know anything about her singing career, she was The Queen of Tejano music.

She recorded the song two weeks before she was murdered. So that is not Selena in the video. Dreaming of you and I could fall in love were released a few months after she was murdered. If she would’ve been able to perform this had she lived she would’ve killed it. No doubt. No that was not her sister it was just someone in the video.
