She was 23 years old here, and this was her last televised concert. She was murdered a month later by the president of her fan club, just a few days before her 24th birthday. There’s a bio movie that was released in 1997 two years after her death, the movie stars Jennifer Lopez as Selena, and basically set Jlo for stardom. The movie starts recreating this Disco Medley, as it is seen as Selena’s highest moment, she was becoming huge, her album was selling millions of copies, she was recording her English album, and this night she gathered about 66,000 people.

Great reaction guys! Yeah she was and is one of a kind. Humble sweet , the complete package!. She has a few other songs of that concert, also may I recommend Selena funny diva moment, there are 5 parts, so you get to know how down to earth and funny she was. Fun fact: Selena's name comes from Greek mythology meaning "goddess of the moon". But my belief is that there's only one God and creator. She had a god given gift that she shared with the world, and still shares thru videos to this day. R.I.P angel ..

I was a 19 year Mexican American on a vacation visiting family in Monterrey, Mexico when I heard La Carcacha, the song that launched her stardom in Mexico. Her primary language was English, having grown up as a Mexican-American in Corpus Christi, Texas. She gained countless fans in Mexico for her endearing love and connection with Mexico--the home of her forefathers. She learned to sing in Spanish and sang pop standards, ballads, cumbias, rancheras. She song with such enthusiasm, love, and passion, and transitioned so seamless and effortlessly between both languages, countries, cultures. A true American icon who transcended borders, cultures and continents.
