You really think his motives weren’t for personal gain but for the advancement of humanity ? Why else would he switch sides. Unlike the creator of the atom bomb Oppenheimer who vehemently opposed his creation Von Braun actively encouraged his weapons use against civilians. I see your point though, I just have a hard time seeing the good in someone who supported a genocidal maniacal Regime and then switched sides because it suited him. • @SilenzioDiEsistenza

    @SilenzioDiEsistenza

    About destroying his statues thats somewhat stupid, but questioning gender identity, that is perfectly fine. Something hitler would have condemned for sure, but these soldiers you talk about. Who are you to decide for them how they should feel about young people today? Speak for yourself. If you want to fit tradition that is your business. If you want to protect a certain view on churchill that is also your business. I respect churchill greatly for his defense against fascism, in spite of his flaws and his views on british imperialism. So personally i do not support destroying those statues. I have been in the army myself. And it did not stop me from questioning the concepts of gender and identity. Of borders and war for nationalist ideals. Any intelligent young person has the duty to question tradition, and re evaluate dogma, and scientific knowledge, so they might do better than us. The world was not a pretty place before the great war. Lots of fascism, racism, colonialism, antisemitism to go around, and sadly enough neither the actions of churchill, nor the geneva convention did really end this. So there is space to grow. Churchill can be outgrown as well. We can do better

    Churchill was a truly passionate politician. Here, he outlines exactly why he believes it is his ideals that are correct and suitable, and exactly why we should be opposed to the very idea of socialism. And today, in the run up to the upcoming election, the best the "main party" leaders can offer is pathetic slants at one another and weak notions of empty and ineffectual changes.

    This drives me up a wall. Less than a hundred years later, people freely push Marxist and Socialist ideas here in the US and abroad without so much as a mention of their predecessors, Stalin, Hitler and Mao (and the HUNDREDS of MILLIONS that they killed). It's despicable.

    Socialism is flawed, but without it the us would never have gotten out of the great depression. Which was a failure of capitalism to protect the masses from hunger and loss of all those things that human rights are supposed to protect. Churchill was also a proponent of british imperialism and the monarchy. Which is in many ways undemocratic. Off couse i love the man. But i dont worship him. I dont accept his views blindly, because of him being a war hero (not like that coward roosevelt and his manhattan madness). I respectfully disagree with him on many points. He was great in his position against fascism, but as a politician, he was pretty mediocre. No lincoln for sure, no revolutionary. Just clinging to the old values. I prefer him to napoleon, since he had some sense of democratic values in an authentic way. So in a sense he went beyond his hero. Sadly looking at britain now and its full on liberalism and the disaster it has been for the majority of british people, i wonder, has the gift of his protection been squandered? Is britain really on its last legs, moving towards a civil war?
