I got my two years ago, and its number 0038. In 2038 my son will be 18 years old. 😉
Wow wow wow, just love seiko
Great watch, its everything its cracked up to be. It was my grail, but i acheived it a year ago. Absolutely no regrets, I love it. Is it a cure for the watch obsession? Almost, maybe? Could've been?? I messed up Rob. I went into a Cartier boutique after getting some new sneakers yesterday and tried on the Santos. Wow😍 it fit so nice. I think I like it even better than the Omega Planet Ocean I slipped on the same day. The madness continues.

No cure🤡
Have one of these out for delivery today. Will be waiting for me at my office when I return from vacation. Also ordered the Hexad bracelet to swap onto it. A little concerned about the girth but the comments stating that it wears smaller led me to take the plunge. Found a great deal.
I have had one for about a year now. Every time I wear it it feels special. It really is a great piece. I did swap the bracelet for a better aftermarket oyster style. I kept the original clasp and it makes it great for finding the best fit....great vid

Where did you buy the aftermarket from? Strapcode?
Great video Rob. Great watch. The lug to lug, diameter, lug width, thickness reminds me of Sumo.
Omg it’s beautiful, I need one of these
It looks pretty awesome, I think I put it on the basket about 3 times lol - Is definitely on my list.
this is a great watch.
Amazing watches … I prefer the lacquer bezel on the older models…. My MM300 runs + 1/2 a second a day 🤙🏾👌🏽
Patiently waiting on that Sugess GMT review
Seiko tuna SBBN045 is still my favourite…these SLA watches have other innovations as well that makes them very long lasting..
I’m thinking about buying another Seiko. I picked up a SPB 143 a few months back. It’s the first Seiko I’ve bought in years and I love . I’m thinking about waiting on those new GMT’s . I do like this a lot but 44 is just too big for me . Exquisite is a great dealer . I always enjoy my buying experience.
It's now a bonus when a Seiko bezel lines up. Personally, I'm not gonna risk it. Great video, Rob.

Are there really SLAs that don't line up?

What you call bezel misalignment Seiko calls a feature. Get over it guys.

Eh it used to bother me a lot, but I’ve gotten over it and don’t really care unless it’s REALLY misaligned
I have this piece in my own collection, albeit in its JDM costume of reference # SBDX043. Mine runs +1.5spd when worn. I had lusted after an MM300 for the longest but always waffled back and forth on the expense because I also have a Spring Drive GMT MM600 (SBDB011). Then this Iriomote Island colorway dropped and I had to have it. 😊 As yourself and other respondants have noted the bracelet certainly isn't awesome for the pricepoint (easily cured via a Strapcode super engineer). It's definitely on the larger side but if it's Dimensions work with your wrist it's also one heck of a watch
I brought number 577 beautiful watch or tho functional the clasp needs an update... the build quality and finishing on the watch its self is top notch no regrets!
A piece you can only love or hate. I love mine.
These can be found used for $1600 now. I am getting tempted to buy one used because they are discontinuing this version of the MM300 but just got the mm200 gmt

Did you get one yet? A lot of the sellers even accept PayPal. That's how I got my Spring Drive.
Paid $2277 for mine brand new in Nov 2022. Insane value for what you get and its my favorite dive watch.
Beautiful but I really wonder how it compares to other divers in that price range. Like, can’t even get a milled clasp? The micro adjust is cool tho
IMO über boring design and professionals use dive computers nowadays and that's coming from a colleague working in a professional dive team in a huge harbour where under water visibility is very low 😉 Anyway thanks for the review as always, great job 🙂

Yeah a serious hobby diver just kinda laughed when I showed him my Samurai a few years back. “We don’t trust our lives with a mechanical watch,” was the gist of his response.
Getting close to Tudor prices. Still it's a nice diver. Pre owned price is worth getting if you want one, might even be able to get a few hundred off..

Tudor doesn’t have any soul though. Only reason I would even consider Tudor is for the nice bracelet. Doxa and Seiko are true dive watches.

I gave $2,800 for mine new. Pre-owned you should be able to do better than that, I'd wager.
I’ve owned it twice now and that’s enough for me. I prefer a thinner watch nowadays. I’ve still got an skx009 and an skx031 and I wouldn’t mind a Willard but I think I’m done with the brand as I think they’re getting too pricey. Great vid rob 👍
Really nice look but $
To be honest at this price I would stick with the citizen promaster BN0158-85X with eco drive movement though I’m not an expert in automatic watch movements. It’s much cheaper I got mine in a sale for 300$usd, but I doubt it would be the same now. It’s much thinner and really close in specs with the seiko, it’s a beast of a watch really. I don’t see that much value to the seiko compared to it really.

You just compared a Nissan Leaf to an IS 500 F.

@@tomdolan1071 I get your point. I saw it from an everyday diverwatch perspective, the seiko is a beautiful timepiece but not ideal in my opinion
About 41 at the bezel though.
Really nice looking watch but let's be honest, watchmakers are talking their consumers for a ride now. The prices are getting out of hand. I watched a watch reviewer a few days ago justify a quartz tuna costing 2k and his explanation was because it has sapphire. Are you kidding me? Lorus and Orient are owned by Seiko and have sapphire within their range. Do they add multiple 100's of dollars for a sapphire variant? These watch companies are treading a fine line. There is a reason why certain microbrands sell out within minutes.
Does anyone know how I can buy this. Thanks

Oh that clasp is bad. Also the watch is very top heavy.
So many Seiko reviews geesh. Lol
Seiko clasps🤦♂️really need an update
I found a used SLA047 on Chrono24 for £1300. Bargain at that price
Way over priced…: $2000 retail sounds about right to me… Seiko’s gets zero business for me now… Are used to buy 7 to 10 a year…
My 62 mas and king turtle ,both save the ocean editions, misaligned bezels.the clasp on the turtle is literary crap. No more seikos.poor specs, poor qc.they dont have any respect for us or their own history. Sad.
