    @@pistolpete023 Honestly, I havent seen many divers wearing watches as the trend seems to be wearing Dive Computers that can double as wrist watches. The machanical watch that I see most often though are Seiko SKXs for sure. Most of the people that work the dive boats usually wear casio/gshocks as well.

    I much prefer pin and collar. You are only going to adjust the bracelet once. It’s more secure and more integrated with the bracelet. Screws are a pain, can get stripped, can come loose, and look stupid.

    I doubt you remember, but I commented on your Marathon video a couple of years ago, which was instrumental in my purchase of it. I've come full circle and added an SLA023 to my collection, with the updated shoehorned, 3 o'clock lume pip. Still in the honeymoon phase, but I feel like it entered my collection at the right time. I don't think I could have appreciated it a few years ago

    Great review, I own the blue version of this watch and love it. Nice to see someone actually diving with it! As for the lume at 3 I guess your wish was granted with the limited green SLA047J1 2021, and probably following models…

    The blue version is really nice too! I noticed that too on the new watch they added a lumed marker at the 3'o'clock, but I also noticed that the marker is pushed into the chapter ring so it makes the watch look less balanced but its nice to see Seiko trying to improve their designs!

    Awesome review. I'm a SLA021J1 owner as well. I have some wounds on my watch that the diashield was unable to protect. It takes a beating. My watch runs about 6 seconds fast per day. I leave it crown up to settle at a flat 0. Its very impressive on the timegrapher. On par with my swiss watches. Hopefully in a few more years I'll send it off for a servicing.

  • @mr.ethings1545

    @mr.ethings1545

    Agreed! I would say that according to Navy dive tables, used to determine bottom time before dive computers, on your first dive you max bottom time at 30 meters would be no more than 20 minutes, so I guess they only felt like they only needed the first 20 min. That is just me trying to justify why they did it that way but IMHO i prefer a fully indexed bezel! And also ya mechanical keyboards are cool hahah

I know I mentioned wanting to have a lume marker at the 3'o'clock but i actually prefer my version (without the marker at 3). Although the newest version has a lumed marker at the 3 they no longer put the classic white border around the date window. Also if you look carefully the Lumed marker at the 3 actually is eating into the chapter ring leading the whole thing to look a little unbalanced and not as classically handsome as the previous models. It is pricy, I bought a Padi Edition Turtle and then Modded it, then a solar tuna, then a citizen, before finally just biting the bullet for the MM300. It is still the most expensive watch I have ever bought. If I could do it over again, I would have not bothered with the cheaper watches and just saved for the one that I wanted, the MM300. As I still wear the MM300 all the other watches collect dust. So in the end I ended up spending more money! If youre looking for value and quality, I go between my Marathon MSAR and the Marine Master300. The marathon is cheaper but still awesome!

The Propex LX is an impressive bit of engineering but personally I like the subtle tick of a mechanical watch. Also the size of the LX and its crown through the whole watch off. If you were to go for the LX i would rather you wend with one of the Grand Seiko Divers. In the end the MM300 is an amazing watch especiallyy when you pair it with a strapcode bracellet. It’s worth considering that Seiko can usually be picked up with a discount- which is less possible with omega and Tudor. I got 33% off a nearly new mm300/sla023 which makes it cheaper than a Doxa or Sinn. Whilst they’re both nice watches the Seiko is more special to me and also more versatile. The only watch in the similar price range I would pick over the mm300 is a Tudor bb58… but my wife knows how much tudors cost so it’s easier for me to get an mm300 and pretend it cost £500/$450 😄😄
