    I really like your reviews always watch until the very end, very neat and detailed. Only one thing keeps me away from mid range 62 mas watches is 6R35 movement, with it's weird unpredictable accuracy. Hope they do well with this movement, and could finally compete with mid range Swiss 80 powermatic movement in terms of stability and accuracy.

  • @camels3269
    @camels3269Ай бұрын

    The title says 63mas, perhaps you should fix that ;) On-topic: I got my SPB453 a couple of days ago and it is an improvement over the 143 in every way. The dial looks much cleaner with the added hour marker and the date window is barely noticeable. The '3 days' on the dial is unnecessary, but if you ask me, so is 'Chronometer Officially Certified', which uses much more dial space. The date and three days text seem to be a dealbreaker for many, and I can understand that these features seem prominent if you are only looking at pictures or macro shots. When you are actually handling the watch, you barely notice either. The bracelet and clasp still leave a lot to be desired at this price point so I cant wait for an aftermarket bracelet or perhaps I should just get an Artem sailcloth. Love the upgrades Seiko!

    I have ALL the iterations of the previous version, and have just got the SPB455. The very small changes to the watch head dimensions are surprisingly noticeable on the wrist, it does wear a little smaller, is a tad more comfortable on my 7.5" wrist and the bracelet is definitely an improvement. No mention on the Seiko website or your review of a 'super hard coating' on the case, I believe most of the the previous versions did. Any info on that?

    that is a personal decision. Some people value Seiko's heritage and will be willing to pay more.

    I wish I knew more about watches. A local jewelry store that I’ve been a patron for decades just started selling Seiko Prospex watches. The cheapest one is about $2400. But the Dillards at the mall has some a lot cheaper -$500-$700. The most expensive one on Seiko’s website is about $1000. I’ve looked at other places online too and found the same disparity. Why such a huge difference? What am I missing?

    different Seiko tiers. SLA or SJE references are the upper end 2k+ with superior finish on the inside and case. Also, the movements are a tier above. SPB reference is this one in this video and is mid-tier. And SRPE is lower end. Its more complicated but that should help you start.

    Annoying they wont go with a date at 6 or just a no date variant. Btw does this still have a diashield coating that gives the metal a warmer hue?

    It's unlikely that they will make one without date given that the S in 62MAS comes from "Selfdater", as in, with a date complication.

    Thumbs up for your video. As with the subject of the video... I'm still not sold on the new 6R55 movement. And, your explanation that it is essentially the same as the previous 6R35 is not encouraging. The current state of the 6R movements and the poor clasp with ugly dive extension which is useless for nearly all of us as well as restricting good articulation of the bracelet to rest flat when placed on a table top all make me hold off from any Seiko dive watch purchases until they satisfactorily address both. I might have been inclined to spend significantly more to go with the new Marine Master with 6L movement. BUT, the same crappy clasp situation will hold me back. I want the COMPLETE package from Seiko divers. Plenty of other watches to enjoy until then... If that day will ever come.

    This is only a small bump in price over the cheaper $1000 Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo Automatic diver watch. While that Citizen watch has a decent titanium bracelet it looks and feels cheap compared to this more expensive Seiko Watch. That gorgeous blue dial is what I really like with this Seiko diver watch. I would only buy one of these new these new Seiko 63MAS divers if I could get a decent discount.

    Great looking watches! But... Pin and collar bracelet? For that price? I am getting way less of a Seikoholic by the day tbh. Latest Seiko-ish watches I have are all ugly builds from Aliexpress, and they give me just as much joy for about 1/15th of the price of a new Seiko. And that includes bracelets of the same or better quality should I opt for one. And those ugly builds still have mechanical movements of Seiko making, and I can swap them for about $30 the day they give up - if they ever do give up. As I wear a watch always, every day, year round, no matter the activity, I have come to a point in life where I all in a sudden do not wish to wear my SPB151 Willard as I know I will eventually destroy if against a rock, the underside of my car, at a construction site or by just being active outdoors doing "stuff". To me, Seiko has in a way lost a bit of its soul to the markets in a sense they are more and more opting to go expensive at the same time when makers like Steeldive, Seestern etc etc are cranking out watches in the $75-$300 range that are pretty much everything you could ever wish for both in looks and quality. Yes, sure they are rip offs but you still get stainless, sapphire, mechanical, and like I just said most of the time bracelets of similar or better quality.

    Pin and collar is better. It’s more secure and you don’t have to use loctite. Or worry about messing up the threading or head of the screws etc. + can allow bracelets to be much thinner (even if seiko ones arent)

    I wonder this, too. I’ve had over half a dozen 6R models and every single one performed erratically, even after regulations by professional watchmakers-one watchmaker even said that the regulation in the 6R won’t last more than a few days. Interestingly, my Seikos with the 4R calibre are more precise and consistent, and are superior after simple regulation that can be done at home.
