My impeccable taste in watches is a blessing... and a curse

Just picked this one up in Japan for $275 otd. The weak yen and the tourist discount make these a steal. Sure the case is a little thick but for that price I can live with it!

That is a sweet little watch. I am debating this against the 003 GMT right now. Unfortunately the Longines Master Moonphase is on my radar as well. Life is full of tough choices isn't it?

I found 2 interesting things with this watch I have not come across before. I didn't know what JDM meant. Its overseas market only, meaning its not a US release. I didn't know that was a thing major brands did, maybe its exclusive to Seiko I am not sure. Secondly, I have never even thought about a watch not having a sapphire glass. Any watch I've ever been interested in had sapphire so I assumed that was industry standard for any watch that was "decent" in any watch market. I went from wanting this watch so bad, to absolutely turned off by the non-sapphire glass. I am fairly rough on my watches, it scratches so easy there's no way I could wear this. Frankly I think it is kind of ridiculous it doesn't have sapphire, how much more could it have cost to have that instead?

If it were up to me, all watches would have sapphire crystals. They are no longer special features; average price for aftermarket sapphire crystals cost ~$50. However, Hardlex is fairly scratch resistant, and unless you're intentionally beating up your watches, it will do just fine.

@@degenerateWAI disagree. I have Seikos that haven’t at all been abused and they still have scratches. This is my biggest complaint with Seiko, along with alignment issues.

Does the Rolex Oyster Bracelet fit the Seiko SBSC009? Just asking since I want to replace the bracelet and aftermarket Rolex Oysters are easy to come by. Actually, since you've tried the SRBG27 bracelet, what is the length of the inner link at the clasp? I would like to swap it for a tool-less micro-adjust clasp.

by my measurement the inner link appears to be 10mm

Just like my Bulova Marine Star, this is probably as small as i would go and still look good on my big frame. Wrist size is only one factor in my opinion. I account for my long arms and big hands. All that being said, this looks amazing. Especially with the white dial

Usually JDM models stay in the JDM, but I got mine easily enough through Japan-Select (online store that sells JDM watches in the west). Not sure if it's still easy to get; I got mine as soon as it was released.

Can you offer any help as to your source for JDM in the U.S.?

San Martin has a crazy new GMT watch SN0129-G-B with NH34 Sapphire crystal and AR. WIth a gorgeous Lapis Lazuli watch ...all that at $350 .... Seiko is to be laughed at with their hardlex crystal at $350 They are out of touch.

This is not 24h twice on the watch. Since the purpose and the meaning is totally different. Read below: - The 13-24 hours inside ring is jumping 1 hour per 1 hour mark. It helps you to read the hour hand in military time: - The 1-24 hours bezel ring is jumping 2 hour per 1 hour mark. It helps you to read the GMT hand. Don't look at the 12 hour mark and see the same 2 -24h then say they are the same. Take a look at the 6 hour mark for example, you see the inside ring is 18, while the bezel is 12 !!

Way too thick. Would love it if this wasn’t a GMT, love the true white. And needs sapphire crystal. Its 4 micro-adjusts is nice though.

100% agree that the original bracelet is a complete miss match for that watch.

Maybe it will grow on me over time. For now I'm loving the 3-piece bracelet.

I was going to buy this watch but when I was quoted $540 + shipping from Japan I declined. Sure wish someone had it at a more reasonable price such as the one you quote.
